The Cairns Botanic Gardens is a stunning oasis nestled within the beautiful city of Cairns, Australia. This botanical paradise offers visitors a chance to explore a diverse range of exotic plants, lush landscapes, and breathtaking views. With its wheelchair accessible facilities and numerous kid-friendly activities, the gardens are an ideal destination for people of all ages and abilities.

One of the highlights of the Cairns Botanic Gardens is the opportunity to hike through the nearby Mount Whitfield trails. These true bushwalks provide visitors with a unique experience of the natural environment, offering a chance to see native wildlife and enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding areas. The gardens also feature a lovely café, operated independently, which serves delicious refreshments and provides a perfect spot to relax and refuel during your visit.

The Cairns Botanic Gardens is free to enter, making it an affordable and accessible option for visitors. However, it may be beneficial to have more clear signage and instructions regarding the pathways and exits for easier navigation.

Little slice of paradise inside a bigger slice of paradise. Visitors centre has lovely helpful staff and a load of useful info, and some good books for sale about the local botany. Lovely cafe is run run independently. Note some of the trails up Mount Whitfield are true bushwalks and not your average parkland stroll.

We went on a rainy day so there wasn’t people. The price was affordable because it’s free for everyone. If there more instruction about the pathway and exit then it would have probably been better for me. But I definitely recommend this for garden lovers in/visiting Cairns.

Visited this place in Nov 2023. Loved the gardens, perfect for a walk, family picnic or to ride a bike. Came across big peace lily plants which I have hardly seen before. Beautiful gardens, must visit.
Moreover, place is free, there is no entry ticket. Quite and peaceful place where you can relax in nature's arms.

Convenient to catch the bus from the city to get here if you do not have a car. $1 return trip.
A beautiful and well planned garden. Well worth the visit.

Lovely free gardens in Cairns. We were able to see at least 10 - 15 different types of butterflies! Lots of little paths to take you to different areas of the gardens. I would recommend making a stop here!

This tropical garden is a haven for lovers of nature! Flowers and foliage abound and the diversity of the selections in the conservatory is stunning! Shady paths along the stream are reminiscent of the lush rainforest, but the sunny lawns are bordered in blooming plants for a little change!

I have been to many botanical gardens, and this was by far the most disappointing. There are some beautiful plants and walkways at the start. The conservatory was the best part of the entire garden. There is very little about the plants and flowers, and there are little in the way of flowers in the gardens. The art gallery and "tanks" weren't even open and please make sure you bring bug spray unless you want to be eaten alive, the receptionist at the desk of the info centre could care less about good customer service with a smile, think I interrupted her break? Or serving me stopped her getting her morning coffee.... either way, it's definitely a one-time visit "attraction".
