Bought some boxed cakes and they were a month out of date. Thought the place seemed a bit on the mucky side compared to most farm shops these days. Sausages tasted good though. Meat looked fresh although I did find it odd that they put a note on the freezers reassuring customers that all food was frozen before the bbe date… well only time will tell!

As a farm shop I can't really fault C & J Ives, good value fresh produce but the staff can be hit and miss. Some of their farm animals are in small stables and pens located near the car-parking area for children to take a look at when visiting.
They've added a café and play-barn area which is fantastic when it's quiet, as children are free to play and are easily entertained by the soft-play area. But when it's busy, it's loud, over-crowded and ends up in frustration. I hope Ives learn from this, last time we visited for a kids party there were 3 parties booked at the same time, the atmosphere was too noisy and unpleasant, not somewhere I'd want to visit for a relaxing coffee and food.

Excellent quality meat. I always buy the 5kg of chicken. Sirloin steaks are great and even better when price is reduced to £25. The bacon is great value and would probably cost £20 in a supermarket without matching the quality and it is around £5 for a massive pack

For children it is a great place for them to burn off some energy and they have a good cafe with reasonable priced good food. However there staff and be distant and seem to lack interest in their customer and could do with a course in customer service and recognition. Only after a few complaints about some health and safety issues in their children's play area and a mention of HSE did things improve. I cannot comment on their food shop as I've never bought from here but it does seen popular

Bought some chicken breast and put them straight away in the fridge. Noticed a bad smell from the fridge less than 2 days later. The chicken was off and stunk horrendous.
These things happen, but the level of customer service afterward's was worse than the smell of the chicken. No apologies, just guessed a figure for refund (no itemized receipt given at purchase) no attempt at trying to make amends.
Would definitely not recommend people shop here, won't be going back and we used to go a lot!

Need a quality farm shop then look no further quality fresh meat cut as you want it by experienced butchers. Plus frozen meats with farm fresh vegetables with an added bonus of baked on site fresh cakes.
You wont do better than Blue Hills!
