This is my experience. The Adult Mental Health Unit felt to me to be the place hospitals palm you off to when they are overloaded with drug addicts, who take priority day and night, every day that ends with the letters day, and they can not assist you with issues not of your own making, such as psychiatrists prescribing medications that make you feel horrible, and your psychiatrist seems to be on a permanent variation with the odd week of work thrown in to pay for the endless vacations. It felt to me that the deal was with this place. that it's about the illusion of actual help and assistance. The staff at Brookvale came across as purposefully rude, hostile, and dismissive. it felt as though they couldn't wait to get rid of me. Zero interest in listening or offering any advice. When I asked if I could come in to speak again if I was in a bad place? which I was. No. No, you can't. I got a nice card that had a phone service everyone knows already. It's a shame the public mental health sector on the northern beaches is in this state. Very nice building. The car park cost me $50 for the very short amount of time I was there. I suggest dumping the whole charade or directing money towards organizations that care and assist, such as Lifeline.

This review is about the Adult Mental Health Unit 3rd Floor. I have been attending since 2016 when it was located at Queenscliff. Great service and team. I continued with them when they were relocated to Brookvale. Unfortunately my long term Case Manager retired and my Psychiatrist was transferred. I was informed that I had been taken off their books!! So I had to enter the Private Sector. I then reconnected with BCHC in 2023, with some trepidation, knowing staff turnover was very high and my Psychiatrist could change every 6 months. There is something very wrong with the system here. If you want continuity, very important for mental health, don't go here. A service that was excellent cannot be expressed as that in 2024.

My experience with your facilitator today was less than satisfactory. I have been coming to Breastscreen for many years now and know the protocol, and this was a very unpleasant experience. My appointment was 11/4/2024 at 1.30pm.

I am a carer and went to the northern beaches community mental health service level 3 this morning around 9 am with my client. I have to say that we have been coming here for a couple of months now and everytime is the same story. Feeling not welcome at all, the receptionists are not happy to be there and working for the community. Not to mention they don't wear masks. But today a doctor joined the 2 receptionists and had a not very pleasant conversation about another doctor. They were using, let's say, not polite and kind words. And I was not the only one attending the waiting area. Not very professional environment. This episode is what made me write this review. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I am not use to write reviews because if I don't like a place such as a restaurant, Cafe or cinema etc I simply don't go there anymore. But this is an essential place for anyone with mental health issues and you can't just simply "not go" if you don't like the place.

This is a big shout out to the superb team at the Adult Mental Health unit at BCHC. The care, understanding and compassion shown to my partner yesterday was a testament to the professionalism of this team. They are also committed to knowing their patients - so as to identify early any issues that may be arising. We are very fortunate to have such a committed and caring team on the northern beaches.

I had my first ever scan here at Brookvale and I felt so comfortable thanks to Eva. She was so caring and really made the whole experience less daunting. The receptionist was also so friendly, thanks ladies!

As expected, yet another 'community' mental health service that fails to deliver. Every time, I say 'every service I have been referred to has been useless/ let me down ie not calling when they say they will ', and I'm told 'try it, this will be different, you'll see'. Well, guess what, no, it is EXACTLY the same as all the rest. Dealing with a mental health problem is very very hard. Being constantly let down by the people/service that is being paid to provide support just makes it harder.

And no answer today, 29 December. Connected only twice out of 6 calls. The RVA doesn't advise they are closed, and disconnected at end of message. Very poorly managed.

Unfortunately mental health issues don't adhere to a 9-5 mentality, nor close over Christmas. FYI, this services apathy is deleterious and makes me wonder why I even bothered. They obviously don't care about the wellbeing of the people who are coming to them for help. I'm already suffering from severe depression - do they really think their ignorance will have had a positive effect on my mood? Frankly, I'm disgusted
