I booked at the Croydon centre as I did my first one there two years ago. My mum is a breast cancer survivor therefore, I am at high-risk. The lady at the front desk, Marnie, was very accommodating. Upon knowing that I was with my mum (who was waiting at the Croydon Health Centre), she asked me to bring her in. And when Marnie knew my mum's last breast scan was <2years ago from overseas, Marnie looked at her computer and asked my mum if she wants to do it that day after my appointment as a slot was open for 1 patient but we have to wait for an hour as the other patients are coming in for their appointments. My mum felt cold while waiting (being an elderly, my mum is always cold) and her jumper was not enough. Marnie took her blanket from her drawer and put it on mum to make my mum feel comfortable until it was her turn. The technicians are also very gentle, consistently asking me (and my mum when it was her turn) if we are okay. Before we left, Marnie also offered to book my sister for her own appointment. She also made sure my mum took with her the appointment card to remind her when to book her appointment next year. All three of us had our mammogram all at the same week and we got the results after a week. Overall, a very very positive experience from Breastscreen NSW in Croydon.

I attended the Lismore clinic on 24 January 2024 for follow-up scans after initial tests in early December 2023. Unfortunately, my experience was distressing. The nurse performing the ultrasounds was cold and rude. When I thanked the male doctor as he was leaving the room after performing the biopsies, she scolded me, saying, “There are four of us here, not just him how about thanking us all.”
I had intended to thank everyone once the procedure was complete.

I was initially told I would have to wait around 30 minutes for the biopsies due to areas of concern. Instead, I was left alone for nearly three hours, in tears. When I asked how much longer it would be, the ultrasound nurse simply replied, “Not long, just wait your turn.” It was not until I went to get dressed and leave they decided to do the tests.

The female doctor I also dealt with was condescending, even when she told me, “It’s probably just early breast cancer, but we’ll wait for the results.” This results where even incorrect as it came back as DCIS when in fact it was an aggressive breast cancer and invasive cancer, something I believe was worsened by the fact that BreastScreen kept me waiting for two months. This delay, coupled with the suspension of screening during the covid/cold debacle, only made matters worse.

Most concerning of all, the attitude and behaviour of the ultrasound nurse was completely inappropriate. She is, quite frankly, in the wrong line of work. I will never return to another Breast screen NSW clinic again. My surgeon was also disgusted in the poor report writing, scans that were nearly unreadable and he was not given proper access to scans so he had to send me for more scans at a bettering imaging service. The surgeon did not have anything positive to say about Breast screen NSW.

I was extremely happy with the service from the receptionist and the technician. They were both softly spoken and very accommodating. The made what is an awkward experience for most women and very comfortable experience. If you can choose where you go, I would recommend the Croydon clinic highly.

My mum's a potential patient who did biopsy in RPA. The whole process was painful as first time cancer patient, Ie. They got wrong with the appointment time; the pathology report doesn't get back in time and they cancel your appointment 1 hour before it happens; the biopsy itself would take 6 hours (my mum was there from 10am and left just before 5pm). Staff often raises their hands in the air and doesn't know alot of things. Seems to me that there's no process or protocol. Poor operations management which leads me wonder if WE ARE IN SAFE HANDS?!
