You can't blame the nurses and doctors they are doing what they can. The limited staff makes it a really horrible experience waiting to be seen for treatment. Typically, wait is around 4 to 8 hours to be seen by a doctor unless you are having a cardiac arrest or you come in via an ambulance. The nurses rank you from 1 to 5 in servility. If they see you're not bad, then you will be waiting hours sitting there. Tip for anyone reading this (thumbs up this post if helpful) Check their screen in Triage when you see the nurse if you see your name highlighted check the colour status (Cyan/Green/Yellow/Orange/Red) 5 to 1 in servility to get an estimate on your wait time.

I am waiting for more than 8 hours at emergency with with restricted movement of my leg due to fall from ladder. I told them i am feeling pain, my knee swelling as i am sitting more than 8 hours on chair, but no one listen to me. Even they didn't give me pain killer after 7 hours passed from first pain killer given.
Absolutely frustrated.

The emergency department at Blacktown Hospital is appalling!!!
My 7 year old daughter came in by ambulance with whooping cough and chocking.
We got put in a room next to the service desk with 2 x staff sitting at desk most of the time, it took us 4.5 hours to even get a triaged nurse to check us in and do my daughters stat's.
In the 4.5 hours we went to the counter twice to follow up and they actually forgot about her.
Still waiting to see a doctor! Absolutely disgusting customer service.
The hospital needs an investigation and a restructure.
To the Australian Government you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting the Hospital system in Australia get the way it is.....
People need to be held accountable for this disgrace.
4.5 hours in Emergency to get a triaged nurse just to check my daughter. Disgraceful!!!!

Being an Emergency Room at a public hospital, it's always extremely busy, so be prepared for a long wait.

The time from presenting at the E.D. and actually being transferred to a bed in a ward has been up to a couple of days from my experience

The time until actually being treated by a doctor is always much less than that of course, but can still be many hours

The staff are generally very good, better than Westmead or Mt Druitt IMHO

Very bad service in emergency. We came 5 pm and they took blood samples 7 pm but not received the reports result till 5 Am next morning. Still waiting for the Dr and reports result. Reception staff don’t know when the dr will call us. It’s very frustrating for the patient and patient spent whole night on the chair.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY!!!!!

Over the weekend, our 17 month old Bub developed a high fever, which peaked at 40.2°C early Monday morning. We rushed him to Blacktown Emergency Hospital, but due to a shortage of doctors, we waited several hours (around 7 Hours ) without being seen. Eventually, we had to take him to a nearby GP for medical attention.

What’s the point of Emergency then. All that the support staff gave us were panadol. The temperature was fluctuating still they considered that as not urgent.

From my experience they are not interested in saving lives. Hours before my dad died at his home, he was here, at Blacktown Hospital ED. Presented via ambulance drunk and disordered with a serious head injury. They let him walk home. Unbelievable.

These people are clueless to the life saving powers they possess or simply do not care.

Even tho this place was so frantically busy, I was met with a very friendly and super helpful person at reception. My son was having a mental health episode and Daniel was so sympathetic and understanding. I don’t think I could have got him in if he wasn’t there so I am so grateful to Daniel. All the staff, nurses and doctors were great as well with how busy they all were. It’s taken me years to get my son to get help and I am glad it was a good experience for him so it might be easier to get him back if needed.
