It’s so difficult to find decent doctors these days, but every doctor I have seen across Berkeley Vale and Long Jetty medical centre has been great. It’s super handy to have the choice of both centres, as like any good doctor surgery it can be tricky to get an appointment at short notice. The reception staff are beautiful and always make you feel so welcome, especially when I am there with my daughter. Finding a good doctors surgery is a blessing.

Doctors have always been great, but I’ve always had to wait AT LEAST half an hour past when I booked my appointment.

I have visited this practice before, and called to make an appointment and asked for a Telehealth appointment. I was told they're "not doing telehealth anymore, we're going back to how things were before covid." When I told the receptionist my mobility was severely limited by chronic pain and that it would literally cause me pain to be forced to physically go in, she told me "the only reason someone can book a telehealth appointment now is if you have covid'.

I immediately called another medical practice and asked for a telehealth appointment there instead, and there was absolutely no issue with me making one.

Therefore, this decision by Berkely Vale Medical Centre seems to be a practice-specific decision. I would like people to know that this is potentially serious indirect discrimination- even if someone is temporarily disabled by something like the flu- you cannot legally have a policy in place that puts a person, or a group of people, at a disadvantage due to a personal characteristic like disability (both temporary and/or permanent), or for potentially anyone who has carer responsibilities.

This is an incredibly poorly thought out decision on management's part. What kind of care are you providing to patients with this kind of policy? You have just put a huge barrier up for many different kinds of patients to receive medical care. I would suggest a long hard look at whether your practice exists to serve its patients' needs, and to immediately re-assess this policy to ensure you don't become liable for discrimination.

I've been coming to the practice for over 11yrs & I have chronic health conditions. They have always taken great care of me & investigate matters thoroughly. Always helpful in semi urgent situations & appointments are on time.

It takes four weeks to get a GP appointment and there was issues with patient privacy as the doctor I saw constantly talked about my health problems in the waiting area. I found a much better clinic elsewhere which is managed much better.
