Geelong University Hospital has shown nothing but negligence and contempt in my treatment. As someone with a terminal neurological condition, I expected compassion and professionalism, but instead, I’ve been met with arrogance and outright malpractice. Despite being on prescribed medication for over two years, which has stabilized my condition, they have deliberately withheld it due to a personal vendetta involving a specific doctor. This is not just unprofessional; it is inhumane.

I have been accused of drug-seeking behavior without any justification, purely based on their biases. Rather than addressing my actual medical needs, they tried to force unsafe medication on me, knowing it could endanger my life. The attached photo of my vital signs demonstrates how unwell I truly am, yet the staff’s dismissive and hostile behavior shows they have no interest in helping patients.

This hospital does not care about patient well-being. Instead, they seem intent on punishing those in need. I wouldn’t trust them to care for anyone in a vulnerable state. Their behavior is not just unprofessional; it’s cruel. Avoid this place if you value your life or dignity.

We went to the Children’s Emergency Department yesterday after my son suffered an injury while playing footy. It was the first time using this facility, and we were really impressed. During our time there, we saw other Mums and footy players come through and there was a shared empathy between the patients and visitors in the waiting room. In total, we were there around 3 hours from checking in, to X-rays and then having the lovely Dr Erica plaster my son’s broken hand. Hopefully we don’t have to return any time soon, but we really appreciated everyone’s help.

The wait times in emergency are absolutely ridiculous. We went to Barwon North first, yet they don’t have strong enough sedation for an adult to do a reduction for a broken wrist. So they sent us to Geelong Hospital Emergency. Two and a half hours at Barwon North and currently Five and a half hours and still waiting. Definitely not enough staff on. The staff are run off their feet..once seen the staff were amazing.

Cannot praise the staff, nurses and doctors enough for their care in assuring I could recover fully. If you are very ill this is the hospital. It seems their were people in the waiting room who chose not to go to their GP and instead complain about waiting times. Oh, well

Currently been in hospital for 10 days for a knee infection which has involved two significant surgeries. All the staff here have been absolutely brilliant they are kind and compassionate and work with what little funding they receive. Sadly the amount of code greys (aggressive behaviour) towards the nurses and doctors from some feral patients is disgraceful. The staff here shouldn’t suffer this abuse it is no wonder there is a nursing shortage. Special thanks to all the kind staff on Level 5 Heath Wing.

Been there to the emergency with a 4 months old that was unwell. My first time to the emergency. Checked in at 8.30pm. At 2am I was told they were busy at the back and it was gonna take another 2 hours at least. Then I was advised to go home and call a helpline to talk to a doctor. I was quite confused because at that point there was no one left in the waiting room. Basically it was just us and a baby boy waiting to be double checked after a scan. Seriously I never felt more neglected and mistreated. The nurse at the front (Keith) couldn’t care less. He was busier eating biscuits and laughing/chatting with the other staff members. In two words? A SHAME. Shame on you for providing such a poor poor service to the community.

I went to ED with appendicitis. I am giving five stars for the wonderful nursing care I received. The nursing staff, porters etc were just so lovely that the whole experience was positive. I was also glad the food was super healthy (which would have helped my recovery).
Thanks lastly to the surgeon and medical experts who saved my life.

I’m not sure if any of the management will see this, but based on other reviews, it seems that positive experiences here are rare. I regret not checking the reviews beforehand—had I done so, I would never have gone.
This was our first visit to an ED in Geelong, and unfortunately, it was deeply disappointing. My daughter, who is just shy of 16, was experiencing excruciating upper abdominal pain. We arrived at the hospital at 12 AM and waited for over three hours, despite there being no other patients in the queue and receiving no updates.
When we were finally seen, the nurse was extremely unfriendly, making us feel unwelcome. The doctor showed little effort in diagnosing my daughter’s condition, simply prescribing multiple pills and, after a long wait, dismissing us with no real resolution—sending my daughter home still in significant pain (7/10).
The following morning, we went to a private ED, and the contrast was astounding—professional, compassionate, and efficient care.
The level of service we received at this hospital was utterly unacceptable. I sincerely hope I never have to visit again.
