Okay I came to IVF Australia on the advice of a gynecology surgeon that we had to do surgery and it would be best to do IVF to save somthing just incase. This review is from November/ December 2022.
We came to this man as clinical director of IVF Australia after having tried with Dr Lahoud and Dr Mangat (they have their reviews) and to discuss our experience (which was not great).
This review is more based on our experience with him as clinical director rather then a specilist.
This specilist seemed knowledgable and warm and did seem to listen to our concerns. However when we went through our experience he appeared dismissive to our experience with IVF Australia. He also indicated each doctor is an individual practitioner so not much he could do. He offered to give us our file to take to another place offering IVF treatments however we had already spent $70000 and my GP agreed with me in that I did not want things divided between places and make this more complicated then it already was. He also corrected the lie Dr Mangat told us that we had to pay a genetic counciler to destroy the embroyo we created that had down syndrome and ones we could not get a PGT result from and we retested them (sadly they did not survive that process).
He also when I was asking about supliments without the needed minitoring simply said stop just taking them. I pushed for blood tests and there was somethings that could be seen as toxic range or impacted by taking them over months during cycles.
We decided to do a cycle after the previous one with Dr Mangat and after a break. Thy tried to make me sign into the new portal however multiple times in the terms and conditionsit said by signing it I was agreeing to not say anything adverse or that may offend someone within the company. I said I would not do that as I did not want to agree to not say truthful comments or give honest reviews, I did not want to be looking over my shoulder for fear of a lawsuit. How could anyone trust reviews if they sign something saying they won't say anything negative and maybe that was against Australian consumer law. Somehow the consent I already had was valid untill 2024.
This cycle was a horrible experience as the Greenwich ultrasound machines once again could not see my overies despite the upgrade and it was very stressful trying to do the cycle despite this mans patience. We ended up having to drive to westmead to see and we had no idea through most of it if things were too big as may have been the case in a previous cycle that was not cancelled and the result was nothing at the end of that cycle. Needless to say it was not a good result and he did say he thought it was time to stop but I was already ahead of his thinking.
He also told us after that cycle and spending $14 000 to get nothing to "not give up on natural fertility". if things were straight forward as that we would not have spent $84 000 to have something just incase which is yet to be determind if worth spending our savings on.
After we decided to stop so I could have my surgery (the reason we were here) I wanted to have a plan to use what we had collected and a plan for this (something missing so far on our journey here). He kept telling me he would get to it soon or to email back at a date in the future and basically running us around and what appeared to be fobbing me off. Eventually he was retiring and would begin saying he would pass us along to the next clinical director. I do not understand why he was trying so hard to not give to the next clinical director. Only when i sent an email that included the secretary of the head of virtus health did we actually manage to schedule a meeting to speak to the person taking over from him.
I mean at one point I can see he may have been good as a IVF specilist but not great as a clinical director and maybe we just got him towards the end of his time so he had enough. Maybe my understanding of the role is incorrect though and he is retired now so nothing else can happen here.
