Since day one I have brought all 3 of my cars to ASC. The work is always top quality and the bills are always reasonable. It's very obvious how much they value their customers to ensure the best quality, service and assurance is done at all times, Always going above and beyond to look after their customers. If you're looking for an honest and reliable mechanic, this is the best one in the inner west!! Thank you to Danny and the boys, along with Nicole for the excellent service at all times, especially if they are busy they always give the best service ever, ensuring the car repairs are always done properly and safe for the driver of the car. Even if they have updates and you’re busy, they will reschedule a call or even message you for an update on the car! I appreciate it always for what they do and the care they take for their customers.

Ashbury Service Centre is the best. They are honest, genuine and skilled. I have all 5 of my family’s cars serviced by ASC. If you are expecting a cheap, unfriendly and unskilled servicing go somewhere else. Remember cheap, unskilled servicing can be dangerous to you and your family. ASC will ensure your car is safe and dependable to drive.

I’ve typically been the type to just drop my car off for service, pay the bill, and leave. However, after my last service, I decided to review the invoice in details, out of curiosity, and unfortunately, I felt like I got ripped off. Here’s a breakdown of what I found:

JLM Engine Flush
Charged: $30.14
Found online: $19.95
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $10.19.

Castrol 5W30 Magnatec Professional Oil
Charged: $12.20/L
Found online: $10.99/L
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $1.21/L. My car needs 5L of oil so the total overcharge is $6.05.

Oil Filter
Charged: $43.95 (brand unknown)
Found online (Ryco brand): $16.99
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $26.96.

Air Filter
Charged: $68.06 (brand unknown)
Found online (Ryco brand): $50.99
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $17.07.

Cabin Air Filter
Charged: $69.44 (brand unknown)
Found online (Bosch brand): $45.00
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $24.44.

Windscreen Washer Additive
Charged: $3.85/L (brand unknown)

Initially, I thought perhaps they were charging more to cover the delivery fees, administrative times (listing items, ordering, etc) and they also need to make profit off the products they were sourcing which is pretty understandable... My real disappointment came when I looked into the costs of other major items:

Radiator Replacement
Charged: $480 (Adrad model)
Found online: $138 for a compatible radiator, $305 for Koyorad, and $329 for Motorkool - all prices including delivery...
Discrepancy: Overcharged by up to $342!!!
I called around to other workshop and got a quote for an Adrad radiator — the best price I got was $375 ($105 difference). I was shocked at the difference in price for the same product...

Radiator needs coolant right? Got charged $72.60 for 3L ($24.20/L) of "Adrad Red Coolant"... The funny thing is that the liquid inside the radiator tank in my car is GREEN (I am not color blind) and a bottle of 5L of Penrite coolant concentrate can be found for $64.99 (12.99/L)... 3L would cost me $38.97....

Engine Mounts
Charged: $288.75, $163.63 and $288.75 — total: $741.13 for three mounts (left, right and bottom).
Found online: Full set (all three mounts) for $242.
Discrepancy: Overcharged by $499.13.
I contacted a Mazda dealership for an OEM quote, which was $800 for all three mounts (close to the total I was charged). However, after a friend took a look, it was confirmed that a non-OEM set was installed, and the true price should have been around $400-500 for a reliable non-OEM set.

Overall, I feel like I was charged far more than I should have been for the PARTS and I am not disputing/complaining anyhow the services & labor time charged in addition to the individual items prices. Summing up everything, I got overcharged $942.38. Considering just the "major items" and using "trusted" non-OEM brands, that's go down to an overcharge of approximately $400.00!

It’s disappointing, especially because I've trusted the services of this workshop since 2018...

A few years ago, I decided to give this service centre a try based on a friend's recommendation, but unfortunately, the experience was quite unpleasant, and it has stuck with me ever since.

When I arrived to get a quote for a general car service, I was immediately asked what specific work I wanted to be done. I explained that I was looking for a general service and to address any visible or obvious issues. Instead of offering guidance or a straightforward package, I was met with a dismissive attitude, being told that I needed to specify every detail because everything would cost extra. The quote I received was over $300, which seemed excessive compared to other places where I’ve had similar services done for half the price. What bothered me most was the way I was treated—being a woman, I felt like my knowledge was being tested in a condescending manner rather than being provided with the support and advice I was looking for.

Unfortunately, this experience has left a lasting negative impression, and I won’t be returning to this service centre. I’ve since found other mechanics who offer the same services at a more reasonable price and, importantly, treat their customers with respect.

I was recommended to Danny and his Ashbury Service Centre when looking for a trusted mechanic for my car in 2018. I have used their workshop since then.

I highly value Danny’s proficiency and professional advice and skills. In the car business, integrity is hard to come by. I trust Danny and his team with my car (and now recently my young daughter’s car) for the work that they've done. Having peace of mind is priceless.

Ashbury is the BEST mechanic I have known and trust for their outstanding service. I would highly recommend their mechanical services.
