I moved to Sydney recently and was looking for a good GP office in Newtown. It's always hard finding a good GP with availability but I decided to go with Alice St, despite it being a tiny bit more expensive than other options, due to good reviews.

I'm so glad I did. They assigned me Dr Vaux who is by far the best GP I've ever had. He is friendly, knowledgeable, caring, and communicative. Everything I asked him about he knew so much about; rather than just prescribing things or sending me to a specialist, he took the time to talk me through things, helping me to understand them. He creates a very safe space which is something I haven't always felt with GPs!

I highly recommend the practice to anyone looking for a fantastic local GP.

Being time poor and for the convenience and also because I was leaving Sydney the following day, I booked a prescription online. I was denied this much needed prescription because I was due for a blood test. I was told to get a blood test and book in for an appointment.
The medication is for anxiety and does not need a blood test. I felt bullied into making an appointment. I realised I had no time to get a blood test and left Sydney.
The last time I saw a doctor at Alice Street for alarming spots on my arms, the doctor said she didn't know. I was charged $76 for 5 minutes with a doctor who said she didn't know. At least then I had medication for the anxiety resulting from being charged $76 for nothing.
Now I am anxious because I do not have the medication for anxiety and I will have to waste time trying to get the medication.

Receptionist are very warm and friendly and have gone above to help me. The doctors I have seen have also been very thorough and explained things so I could really understand. They were also very queer friendly which I haven't experienced before from health professionals. I felt very comfortable.

Covid booster process was awesome. Showed up at 10:10 (as per schedule), filled the form in, then it’s like a little production line of chairs, super simple, distanced and efficient. Everyone’s friendly. Your 15 minute post vax is in a nice courtyard. Hell, one of the chairs has tinsel. What more can you want? 5/5

I called this Practice frantically a few weeks back when my toddler developed a blotchy rash that was spreading quickly. She’d just drank almond milk for the first time so I was worried it was an allergic reaction. They had no same day apts but the nurse (Fiona) still came on the phone and gave me advice to get to a pharmacy for antihistamine’s then to call her straight after to let me know how my child was. I was still worried afterward so she told me to come in and checked her over and got a doctor to check her over too. They weren’t concerned as she had no fever and was in good spirits, didn’t have swollen tongue and they really put my mind at ease. I highly recommend this Practice. They didn’t need to see my child but did.

Alice street deserves 5 stars. I have seen 3 doctors on multiple occasions at this practice and each time I was beyond impressed with their compassion and willingness to listen. Each time I have visited I have felt supported and treated holistically. I have lived in Sydney my whole life and have always found it hard to visit a doctors practice as it has felt impersonal and rushed. Not at Alice street. Even the receptionists are helpful! Would recommend to anyone who asks for a GP recommendation.

Worst GP practice ever! Was my first and last time I will visit.
My experience started with rude reception staff, then proceeded with waiting for a ridiculous amount of time to see the doctor.
Finally when I was able to see the doctor they told me they could not do the one thing that I had specifically booked the appointment for, and the doctors who could, were not available.
Lastly they advised they would email me if another doctor could see me the following week.
Never heard from them.
Definitely will not be going back.
