I was on tour from New Zealand in April while visiting the Red Centre I was admitted with a medical problem.
I was treated so well by the Staff, Reception, Doctors, Nurses and the lovely lady cleaning the wards used her phone to call taxi and the security guards who watched over us.
The Doctor who I saw had finished her shift took me back to the hotel at 1.30am in the morning.
Taxi didn't arrive!

I was able to continue the tour to see the magical Uluru and wonderful colours and sights
in the Red Centre.
Thank you to all of you who looked after me.

Whilst traveling I was feeling extremely ill. I presented to emergency where I was helped with compassion and logic. The nurses and doctor I had looking after me were great and I felt heard and thoroughly checked over. They sent me off with a plan of action, so hopefully I’ll be feeling myself again soon. Thanks Dr Jamie and team 🙂

Today I had to attend Alice Springs emergency dept due to severe pain in my left arm/shoulder. I was lucky enough to be seen by Dr Alex Z.
He was very thorough throughout the proceedure. He was able to diagnose a worsening of the previously diagnosed incomplete fracture, and provide me with pain relief allowing my wife and I to continue on our Ghan trip. Everybody in the emergency dept were exceptional, making our visit excellent.

The whole experience with maternity, from pre care through the birth and follow up support has been amazing. The staff all seem to genuinely care on a personal level about everyone in their care, all of the time, even when the ward is busy. The support was excellent, staff provided ongoing reassurance and advice, food and facilities were nice, and partner was able to board in the room. The outcome for my baby was completely positive. Thanks to everyone in the mat ward!!

Disappointing experience with a lady who frequently answered calls. Despite politeness, encountered rudeness and lack of assistance. It's worth noting that all other staff seemed to be polite and responsive. Management should address professionalism in communication.

My Dad, Alan was being taken care of during his end of life, by the folks in Medical West and Palliative care. The staff I spoke with were very kind and understanding and they kept me updated on Dad's deteriorating condition. Thank you to all.

While on holidays in the Northern Territory I got quite ill. So I went to the Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Dept. Within a few minutes of walking into Emergency with an unknown illness I was greeted by a nurse and I described the nature of my illness, the nurse did a couple of quick tests and she noticed some concerning symptoms. I had an X-Ray and at it was at this point I was advised that I had fluid in my lungs and that I may have pneumonia. I was advised I should stay in hospital and I spent the next 3 days at the Alice Springs Hospital.
In Melbourne I work with people with disabilities and I regularly take people to the hospital. So going to hospital as a patient I couldn't help but compare my personal experience with my professional experience of attending a hospital. I was really impressed with how well I was looked after by all the staff. I was always informed of all the procedures, the results and my options.
The staff were a lovely mixture of professionalism and personal and friendly. I always felt that I was getting the best treatment.
Most of the staff come from somewhere else, mostly interstate but also a few new arrivals from overseas. I started to build a theory as to why the staff were so warm, friendly and helpful. In my opinion when people such as the staff at this hospital are away from their families for a long time and they probably don't know many local people they build a stronger bond with their work mates. It certainly came across this way to me. The staff all seemed to work really well with each other and this positive outlook reflected in the way they treated their patients. When I was discharged I was given excellent advice on maintaining and improving my condition, along with detailed discharge papers that was useful for my doctor at home. So yes a 5 star experience from me!!
