The hospital was clean, and the nursing staff were lovely and accommodating. They had no specific space for breastfeeding/pumping etc, but were happy to give me a curtained off seat if I needed it.
The admin side of things seems like it could do with some attention. There was no information shared about entering/where to go when you arrived. I took public transport and after shuffling around in the rain at 7am with my son in a pram, it was only because I asked a staff member heading into work that I found the entrance round the back through the car park and up the elevator.
Luckily I'd read other reviews about the lack of reception/wifi and packed a book, but still found it really weird they don't provide wifi, and it left me with no way to communicate with loved ones during the procedure. It also seemed to give one gentleman unnecessary stress when trying to pay with his phone before his procedure.
The thing that really left a sour taste in my mouth however, was their billing. My dentist gave me an estimate of a 60 minute procedure. However the Anesthetist and Hospital then sent me bills for 90 minutes to pre-pay ahead, as I have no private health insurance. When I queried it with both parties, and asked whether I should check back with my dentist, both the anaesthetist and hospital receptionist independently told me not to worry, if it was less than 90 minutes the difference would of course be refunded back.
Following the procedure, the anaesthetist very promptly let me know the procedure had only been 65 minutes and transferred me back the difference.
When I called the hospital after a week to follow up I got a "oh yeah no we don't do that, the theatre was booked out for the 90 minutes". And even my request for some kind of tax invoice or receipt recording the $2.5k I'd transferred to their bank account was treated like an odd difficult request. Given the "oops" cost me a difference of around $500, the blythe response hit pretty hard, and left me feeling exploited.
People interacting with hospitals are vulnerable, most of us in the waiting room were weepy parents anxiously waiting for a child in theatre, or nervous IVF patients. While the nursing staff were lovely, the reception/admin staff just didn't seem to match that compassion or understanding, but were just shunting us through. If there were other alternatives I would be seeking them out.

All the staff here are great. Really good and professional services offered.

Not their issue but what sucks is the mobile reception in the area. Mobile data was very spotty and not working at times. So be prepared with offline materials if you are gonna be waiting around.

Hospital in a Telstra dead zone - despite having “guest” wifi networks staff indicated they didn’t have passwords to hand out. Don’t plan to be able to do any work / contact loved one’s easily while waiting on surgery / recovery. Staff and hospital great but providing wifi feels like a basic service these days

I had the best experience at the day hospital, the nurses were so lovely and the level of care/after care was the best I've ever received.
Thank you team.

I had the treatment on Friday, and everything seemed fine. They told me they would call my partner to pick me up, but he didn’t receive any call. I had to call him. After the procedure, the doctor spoke to me, but I only remember bits of what she said. They gave me a sandwich afterward, which I didn’t want to chew. When I asked for different food options, they offered popcorn and chips. I ended up eating the sandwich; it was really good, but it was hard for me to chew.

When my partner arrived, they initially wouldn’t let him in, saying no one was there. After he insisted, they allowed him in. He asked a nurse about post-procedure care, and she said I could eat whatever I wanted. However, if you look online, there are minimum suggestions for after a colonoscopy, which they didn’t mention to me.

Finally, they said they would call me the next day, but they didn’t. On Saturday, I had a terrible headache, and I was unsure of what to take or do. I had to call my family doctor back in my country, who advised me on what to do. The headache was so bad I almost called an ambulance. I waited all day for their call.

Today, Monday, I finally received a call after two days. They told me I just needed to drink more water and to inform the doctor next time I had the procedure. It seems they don’t have much knowledge about nutrition after procedures; they just wanted me to eat quickly and leave so they could go home.(I was the last patient of the day).

Attentive and friendly staff. The parking attendant was very good at his job. The only reason for the 4 stars is the poor Telstra phone reception and the lack of wifi. A lack of choice for cafe but the nearest cafe was pleasant enough.
