I am dumbfounded!
This morning (27 May 2024)
Thought I would get in early to try and catch my (overly busy) Support Coordinator, but that idea went out the window after trying to ring AbbaCare 8 (eight) times only to have it RING OUT on all occasions. When the phone finally answered on the NINETH CALL, was told she was at a meeting, something I hear a lot when trying to talk to anyone at AbbaCare.

The receptionist that answers client calls is the most important job, and lately, well, the last year or so, they have been putting newies in the job that have no idea as to who is or is not in the office at any given time. Not fun when someone is facing crisis and you are talking to an operator that has no idea, or an operator that DOES NOT PASS ON MESSAGES, or staff that DO NOT ANSWER MESSAGES!

I have a GREAT support CoOrdinator but she is obviously overworked, with way too many clients to look after, and NOT BEING HER FAULT, one is always having to push poop uphill to get a hold of her because of this.

My support worker Kevin is GREAT!
He is the only reason one is still with AbbaCare.
He knows his way around Townsville, and is not on his mobile all the time like OTHER AbbaCare support workers of which I have had THREE that have NO IDEA of where ANYTHING is in Townsville, and this is distressing for people like me with autism, and AbbaCare as providers SHOULD KNOW THIS!
The old saying rings a loud bell, "You pay peanuts, you will only get monkeys to work for you" IF YOU CAN GET THEM!

They supplied the best personal care, house cleaning and community access service to me after my shoulder surgery. Nothing was too much trouble, always go over and above what was required!
Highly reccomend ABBA CARE to anyone in the community needing any sort of support!

Started off with abba care about 2 and a half years ago and it was really great had an awesome support worker until covid hit and after kept having different support workers and not very good at understanding English and keeps asking for directions. Wouldn't recommend this service. Poor providing help for a person with a mild disability. Will be going to another service
