We have been going to Jewells Medical for almost 40 years & most of that time our main family Dr has been Dr Michael Swanson. He is an extremely caring & competent GP & I can't recommend him highly enough. It is sometimes difficult to get in to see him but that is only because he is in such high demand.

Honestly not happy, I’ve had infection after infection the past month and a half and have been back 2 times now. First I was put on antibiotics. Which once finished my symptoms persisted. And this was the second round of antibiotics, as I was given the same by another medical centre. Symptoms persisted both times. I have now finished the second round and have been unable to swallow, eat or talk without pain. Migraines and ear aches, went back again today not only did I wait an hour for a spot on a walk in day, I also was pushed into the fever room out back and left alone for 45 min waiting to be attended to. And once I finally saw Dr. Hynd she acted as though I was overreacting and told me she couldn’t do anything. I have been sucking on lozenges 4-5 times a day just to ease the pain and she told me to stop as it would make my throat ‘too sensitive’, which makes absolutely no sense as they are numbing lozenges made to ease pain. All she did was check my ear and throat and said I’ll just have to rest and hopefully it’ll go away. Who has time to rest when your sick when seeing a doctor cost 5-8 hours of your pay? Pretty much paid $91 to just get told to get over it. You are better off going into Priceline, the ladies are so nice.I was immediately helped, she found some amazing products to help with all symptoms.

I went to get a few medical things done with my doctor of the last 13 years.
One of those things was to get my yearly flu shot. I had no issues up until I got to reception. They told me I had two fees. I questioned why this was due to the fact I am an asthmatic and have been my whole life. The lady at reception confirmed the second fee was for the flu shot and called my doctor to clarify if I was an asthmatic and asked me if I take a preventer. I have never out of my 26 years been asked if I take a preventer. I confirmed I did and the other girls at reception continued as they had since the start of the conversation to look at me judgmentally as if I didn’t have asthma. Trust me I wish I didn’t have it. It would have made my dream job of being a marine biologist a lot more realistic.
Note to the girls at reception don’t judge your patients.

Been attending Jewells Medical Centre for over 5 years, ever since Dr Reichler detected a cancer that drs at other bulk billing centres had missed. Each dr is courteous, experienced and completely professional. There is a very calm feel about this place despite being incredibly busy. You find the same warm and professional experience with the receptionists and the nurses. I have complicated medical needs and I trust each of these drs. Yes you will be billed but I find it to be completely worth it. There is also a Laverty Pathology Centre across from it which makes it very handy for follow-up tests and a chemist in the shopping centre nearby.

Recently moved back to Newcastle area after many years and needed to see a Dr. Called the surgery on recommendations from family members and was told their books were closed. Didn’t matter that numerous other family members were clients; no we don’t have a wait list; you will just have to keep checking our website to see when books reopen. So hard to find a Dr in this town. No wonder that hospital emergency departments are so busy because that’s where I will have to be going in future. And all I wanted was to get a script filled this time.

Dr Craig Roberts-Thompson is the best Dr on the planet. The medical centre has an extremely holistic feeling of care V's most being transactional.
