Receptionists at this Charlestown clinic are the worst. I go along to support my 30yo daughter. You're greeted bluntly and abruptly or, spoken to with overcooked fake insincere enthusiasm. You can see and hear everything going on in that fishbowl office, the glass is not soundproof so you hear all the calls and conversations even the complaints line number being given out to a man who walked in. Service is not much better if you ring up. How great to have a government job, to talk about holidays, do as little as possible and socialize. (Where can I sign up?). These Receptionists are blatantly insolent towards patients, let alone to those with mental health problems. They really set the tone.

Have been referred here several times and they refuse to give me an appointment to see a psychiatrist. Would recommend that patients go to the James fletcher hospital in Watt street in Newcastle. Avoid the Lake Macquarie clinic at all costs.

No consumer Parking available like it says on the signs especially when its raining or on weds and thurs. When you go inside its empty no people or maybe 1 or 2 but somehow not one car space, you have to drive round the streets to find one. Dudley road is scarey to cross you have to run to beat the fast traffic. On rainy days Spaces that should be vacant seem to be taken up by staff.

A disturbing number of the employees just want to get paid for sitting on their arse, not doing things and dissembling whenever they get the chance. They have shown very little respect for the rights and principles set out in the Mental Health Act and spend more of their time giving an excuse as to why they won't do something than what is actually in the interest of the patient.

The indolence and lack of conscientiousness ought to be alarming to all whom such a displeasure and mal-affect of this public mental health facility and its employees meet.

I had a battle with my mental health from my early teens and was pessimistic about recovery. Then in my 50s I was teamed with a support worker from Lake Macquarie mental health that has changed my life. I have my life back and been well for 2 years. Amazing. I am forever grateful 🙏

These so called people are the worst people i have ever dealt with. My GP sent a referral and they rejected it without even seeing me.I had dealings with them years ago and was atrocious back then. But even worse now. SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS FOR GOOD.They do WAYYYYYY more harm than good..i'm guessing a lot of people have taken their own lives from the treatment you get here..ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

Honestly disgusted with the way this place is run, especially when it promotes trying to help those with mental health issues, it was a waste of time, they just sent me off with no support or any follow ups, honestly it just made things worse. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

you guys are absolutely disgusting. been here 3 times and treated the same by every single one of yous. yous are only in it for the money instead of actually helping. bunch of dumb mutts here. never ever recommend these people even with my worst enemies. you guys are beyond disgusting.
