I had wrist surgery last week and had absolutely terrible 'care' from this hospital. The check in etc was all good it was the after 'care' that was just terrible. I woke up from my anaesthetic at 11.30 in the recovery room and taken back to my room a short time later, handed my phone and told to call my husband to pick me up at 1.15. I felt extremely nauseous (never happened to me before) and told the nurse this. She was very nice got me something to eat and ginger beer. The nausea continued and got worse and then she gave me some nausea medication which didn't help sadly. After that it was a conveyor belt to being pushed out of the door. They obviously have a check list of eating something, drinking something and going for a wee which was all rushed through and ticked off. I became increasingly nauseous but that didn't seem to be part of the tick list as she just dressed me and walked me out of the door to my husband with a couple of sick bags (both of which were needed in the car 🙁 ) - I understand they may have KPI's to get people out as they have others coming in and I would have had no issue at all with this if I hadn't felt so unwell, but if there was any thought given at all to the care of the patients they would have a contingency for this and have room to allow more time for recovery for those who need it. Unfortunately I was shoved out of the door feeling extremely unwell 1hr 45 mins after opening my eyes! On top of all this they obviously have some kind of deal with the local pharmacy as we had no other option than to drive there to pick up the medication before we drove home instead of being able to pick it up elsewhere more convenient to us as this made the journey home even longer. Why not just give me the prescriptions or send them to my phone and then someone could have picked them up for me closer to home Overall the I would not recommend this hospital at all.

I had a very positive experience at Belhethda Hospital, especially thanks to the exceptional care provided by the nursing staff. From the moment I arrived, the nurses were kind, attentive, and highly professional. They made sure I was comfortable, informed, and well looked after during my entire stay.

What stood out most was their compassion and patience. Whether it was routine checks or responding to any concerns, they were always prompt and respectful. It's clear that the nurses at BethesdaHospital are not only skilled in their work but also genuinely care about their patients' well-being.

Special call out Annette ☘️ in the Rivia ward .. she was star and so helpful looking after me and make a great cup of Tea

Avoid this hospital at all costs. They are understaffed & the pre op procedure for surgery is tedious, chaotic & obviously drastically understaffed. For over 4 hours whilst waiting in a gurney felt like I was in a crisis situation at an airport traffic control. There are unfortunately no cameras in the operating theatres but the post op injuries, left sciatic nerve pain & severe headache I experienced following surgery indicate whiplash . If they were unable to physically slide me onto the slab, I remain firmly convinced I was pushed/rolled off the slab at the end whilst strapped into a left leg brace. I am still paying for this mistake 18 months hence. Caveat Emptor. Both the surgeon & anaesthesist were sadly lacking duty of care.
First, do no harm.

I cannot begin to explain how grateful we were with the great facilities and the wonderful people. I was particularly impressed that our friends beloved dogs were allowed to visit inside the unit.
