Another great visit with my Doctor Arthee yesterday, everything is always explained with care and attention to detail with a smile , 5 stars also at the reception for Shereen who welcomes you always with joy, honestly on my way out somehow I always feel better. As people may see the Jupiter Medical reviews instead of the Port Coogee Family Practice reviews - even though they are the same location, I am posting this review on both.

I can't speak for any of the other physicians at this clinic, but today was my initial consultation and yet the doctor did not perform any form of physical exam, did not ask any of the general health questions recommended by the RACGP for a physician to ask someone of my age at an initial consultation, and when a referral to a specialist was provided, wrote incorrect information on the referral. I was not impressed and will not be returning to this GP. The GP gets one star. However, five stars to the reception staff and nurses I met who were all very nice and helpful.

I felt my presence was inconvenient and I was told multiple times during the consultation that I should have just gone to my regular practice down the road( who were booked out) . I got the message loud and clear the first couple times it was said. Is it really appropriate to make someone feel stupid that they came in to see a doctor. The doctor attempted to shut me down quickly in the appt and get me out the door which created tension as I needed her to listen for a couple minutes to the concerns I had.

This place has gone down hill big time from 5yrs ago. All the good doc's are never available for bookings and the new ones appear to have gotten their license from a cornflake box, and just the all round general authentic care is gone. They appear to just want the easy appts like script renewals without having to think too hard.

On a positive, the immunization nurse is lovely 🙂

EDIT: Changed this to 1 star after dealing with their incompetence yet again.

I also suspect their computer systems, or the associated health engine booking system are inadequately protected with data privacy as i received phishing text messages.

Very & caring doctors here, my wife and I have been coming here for almost 10 years now & have always thought the reception is very pleasant & caring.
Well worth seeing one of the Doctors or skin specialist here.
Alot cheaper than the Doctors surgeries down the road as well !

Looks like I'm not alone. The worst GP consult of my life came from this place after initially believing I could trust this practice. I had attended on a number of occasions since 2017 and had chosen a particular female doctor to support me. Instead I experienced a belittling, humiliating incident of misconduct, namely through bullying, dismissiveness and negligent attitudes from her.
I had booked a long meeting regarding a (government-requested) Work Assist meeting with an intermediary support person in attendance to facilitate.
Through a poorly handled miscommunication, I was not only denied some acceptable form of service or care from the GP, but also made to feel like I'd been foolish, moronic and inconvenienced her as a result. As a result I had to go to a different GP to rebook the meeting.
The worst part was the shame of her 5 minute interrogation to ask me who the heck I was and why I dared to trouble her. The doctor's shockingly terse manner and lack of people skills, and limited understanding of mental health issues and neurodivergent disorders had me wondering why had I chosen her in the first place...She had seemed a decent trustworthy practitioner in earlier consults.
But to top it off I was driven into a panic attack which caused me to break down emotionally, which she saw as grounds for being kicked out. Yes, I was the one who was out of order. I could barely drive myself home.
The end of our conversation was witnessed in the waiting room by reception staff (who appear to have wilfully covered up for her) and my Work Assist person who was denied access to the meeting.
Surely part of a health professional's role ought to be thinking flexibly and openly to help patients achieve their outcomes from a holistic approach. Not drive their already vulnerable patients to feel worse than before.
When I reported it to the practice manager, their handling of the situation was just as poor, informing me after dragging her feet with replying to my emails that "A multidisciplinary team has looked into this, and will have a response soon." One week later: "[Our response is]: sorry you weren't happy with the service you received." What? Your GP committed misconduct and you're sorry my feelings got hurt?
Absolutely disgusting. Avoid.

I have now seen 3 different doctors at port Coogee family practice, all have been really lovely. Professional and empathetic! I will continue to use this practice as my doctors office from now on, really pleased with the service they offer, never wait too long, all staff are friendly 🙂

The receptionist was very rude and not helpful at all when I called about trying to urgently see the doctor for an ear ache that was very painful. She was abrupt and her customer service skills were appalling. Wont be returning again.
