I could this place a 0 out of 10. The way people treat you here is like animals especially Doctors who speak rubbish. My husband voluntarily went here to detox and his on a lot of pain. I spoke to someone about this and his condition and the underlying cause of this and I assuming it was passed on however it wasn’t- lost in translation. Doctors need to be stripped of their license if they don’t have common sense on how to treat their patients.

What makes my blood boil is what doctors said to him- his an Opiod addict but never to understand why he has been taking Opiods due to his pain, when this was addressed the doctor simply replied “it’s all in your head”. Lack of empathy and care for patients. Where is your duty of care, no wonder only a few come out well from here.

Alot of disrespectful nurses using their power over patients to control them. It's a dangerous cycle of no leave from the hospital for months on end to no phone access to contact their emergency contact to help with discharge. The head of the doctors never give a firm discharge date. The food gives us stomach bugs.

My cousin with complex mental issues came here after she had stopped taking her meds. Bracing myself for another long haul, I was amazed at how swiftly she was stabilised here. I also found the doctor, social workers and staffers listened to my concerns and experiences of trying to help her with her issues in the 9 years since her last breakdown. Cumberland was no where near this good, had almost no activities that engaged her in the day and that would speak with of joy over the phone. It was much longer before she was well and cogent there, but to be fair, that might also be due to the size of her breakdowns.

I was a victim of domestic violence yet treated as though I was a perpetrator, despite my injuries, which went untreated.
The admitting doctor was manipulated by my then-husband, who repeatedly lied about what took place. He claimed I was suicidal despite no evidence of that.
When a 3rd-party confirmed I did *not* express any suicidal thoughts, contradicting my then-husband's allegations, I was still detained because he refused to "allow" me to return home, telling staff he could not "tolerate" me.
The (male) doctors here seemed unable to recognise coercive control and adopted a highly paternalistic attitude, denying me of any agency whatsoever. It is appalling that female victims of violence are still treated this way in a developed country like Australia.

DO NOT send your child to the Walker Unit at Concord Hospital. Please, if this “opportunity” is offered to your child and your family, please say NO. It made my daughter worse and ruined my relationship with her. The social worker was good and tried to help, but her psychiatrist was disgraceful.

Today I brought myself to read my father’s autopsy, he passed away in 2012. Concord intensive care mental health unit is at fault for this, for 13 hours my dad suffered he asked for help & as they wrote “complained” multiple times & all the staff did was tell him to go back to his room & inject him with medicine for his mental health issues when really my dads heart was failing. The amount of trauma this has left on My mother, siblings & i is beyond measures, this could have been prevented I could still have my father here if the staff had just listened to him. This hole should’ve been held accountable 10 years ago.

My pregnant Fiance spent over 3 weeks on the manning ward at concord hospital. During this time she was treated by a negligent and impotent psychiatrist Dr Choudhary. My Fiance presented with severe suicidal ideation, stemming from complex PTSD, high stress, and multiple other disorders. On speaking with Dr Choudhary and informing her of her suicide plan she was told "bed pressure meant she could not receive further support from the hospital", and that she had to "be an adult". A specific date and time was then arranged for discharge and confirmed with myself and my fiances mental health support worker. Dr Choudhary then had my fiance informed that she had to vacate her room 7 hours before the organised arranged time. If you are in need of help and find yourself at Concord centre for mental health, be very aware of Dr Choudhary.
