I would like to respectfully share some important feedback regarding the staff at NCMH. This centre plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, and therefore, it is essential that all staff members maintain a calm, polite, respectful, and patient attitude at all times.

During my visit, I observed that staff appeared lacked the level of calmness and empathy that is critical in this environment. I would also like to gently emphasize the importance of showing the same level of respect and understanding to carers. Carers play a crucial role in the lives of people living with mental health disabilities — they provide ongoing support, care, and stability, often under challenging circumstances.

It is important that carers feel acknowledged, supported, and treated with dignity when they interact with service providers. Their contributions should never be overlooked.

I sincerely hope this feedback is taken constructively and that staff training and expectations reflect the importance of respectful and compassionate communication — not only with clients but also with their carers.

Thank you for your continued efforts in supporting mental health. With small improvements in staff conduct, the overall experience for clients and carers alike can be greatly enhanced.

I personally cannot thank the Receptionist at the front desk enough for her assistance today Tuesday 11 March. The Receptionist listens and sends a message to Dr Condon.
I received a phone call back a few hours later with positive news.

I felt heard and supported and that I matter.
I was diagnosed with adhd 2024 at the age of 54.
Having access to Northern community mental health services is great. And knowing I won't be judged and I will be heard & supported means a great deal to me. Extremely grateful for this.

Matt very confidently told me I would get something out of this service, told me he would have someone contact me and I even called and asked to speak to him. The admin lady passed on a message and I never heard from anyone at this place again. These people should not be in this line of work.

I don't think this service is always given a fair shake. If you are open and honest and clear about your goals but it helps that you find out what you want and need within yourselves as nobody can read our minds do this they will connect you to great services and work with you with where your at sure there's always room for Improvement no service is perfect but neither are we but i think instead of complaining be straight with them not but not aggressive and my experience is they will always listen. Truly these are beautiful people who do really care they have an amazing DBT Road maps program that really helped me with Borderline Personality Disorder iand Bipolar Disorder even though its not catered specifically for Bipolar my dream and hope is that one day this will be a reality as i truly believe Bipolar needs more therapeutic approaches and DBT and NMHS has helped me so much with that it has helped talking in a group bouncing ideas and reflections off each other and growing as a group. We look at our vulnerabilitys thoughts emotions how to handle when our emotions get out of control and flip our side so to speak strategies to challenge our thoughts and mindfulness exercises and self compassion to help us through and so much more its been particularly helpful to me as I'm immensely self critical and self concious and I haven't completed it yet so there more to come but I'm so much happier and more confident and my social skills have improved so much through it.

Go easy also on yourselves don't rush ahead on your goals Go step by step moment by moment they will work with you where your at. I love these people so much Please Give them positive and helpful feedback because if you want a garden to grow even more beautiful you it is essential to water it take care of it maintain it it not neglect or trample it. Inspire and show love and care to yourselves and each other I think is key to betterment. Thanks so much. Love to All.

if you actually need or want help they will have nothing to do with you. You sit through what feels like an interrogation with social workers for them to give you generic helpline numbers and thats it cya later. The place would be better off closing to not waste tax payers time and money.

Dr. Young is lovely, she's super friendly and easy to talk to. I've only seen her once so far but she is by far my favourite psychiatrist I've seen. The receptionist I spoke to was also very nice and tried to make me feel at ease when I called up feeling guilty about not saying everything in my first session. If you get to choose who you see, I definitely recommend Dr. Young.

This place needs to be investigated in all aspects. Everyone you will come across there have the same attitude. They don't care.
They will make you feel even more worthless than you already do. And you'll get no support at all from anyone there. Honestly why even have a community mental health service if you are not going to help, even my GP is disgusted with their lack of support. He has tried to get me help there so many times but I am always discharged by them having recieved no service
Editing this 1 year on. After writing to the premier and health minister about the lack of mental health supports and after months of them investigating northern community mental health told the health minister they would see me and do an assessment. I have this in writing. I was told I just needed to go back to my gp and get another referral. Personally handed it in to them and was told I would be gaurenteed an appointment. 7 weeks later I still hadn't heard. When I called they told me they rejected the referral and pretended they did not know about the correspondence from the health minister. Now I have the health minister and the office of the Chief psychiatrist involved again. Seriously this place should be shut down, or sack every single person there and employ people who are not going to mess with people who need mental help

If I could get a 0 star I would. Constant mix ups with my daughters appts. Constant mix ups with depo at home or in the service like today. She is sick so we organised them to do a depo home visit. I call to see when they’re coming and she’s not on the home visit list. They won’t unlatch their claws from my daughters care and tried for a 12 month CTO. We win a 3 month CTO. So end of this month she should be free of them but no they want her for another 12 months. Is this because they receive funding for her Probably! If she actually received proper treatment this wouldn’t be a problem, we’d be happy for her to stay but we want to pay private and recover the care she needs ands deserves. If I didn’t call twice today we it would like she’s breaking her CTO. How about we talk about the constant changing of psychiatrists, she had 3 different ones in a matter of months, how is this a good duty of care? Oh and I haven’t even touched on someone in leadership there writing about me on her fb page called me paranoid.....
