As a Practice Nurse working in the Central and Eastern Sydney region, I have had repeated, highly positive experiences with the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN). Their ongoing support has been incredibly valuable to both myself and my practice over the past 10 years.

CESPHN plays a vital role in improving the coordination and delivery of primary healthcare services. They offer a wide range of programs and initiatives designed to support general practice, promote public health, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Importantly, engagement with these services has been at no cost to our practice—which is always a welcome benefit!

Personally, I have been supported significantly by the CESPHN Immunisation Program, which provides up-to-date clinical advice, education, and practical resources. Their team is approachable, responsive, and has been instrumental in helping us navigate evolving vaccination schedules and policies. They are always available to help and have been especially supportive during potential cold chain breaches, vaccine management issues and changes in vaccination schedules.

The Practice Support Officers and Quality Improvement Team have also been outstanding. Their guidance has helped our practice implement effective systems for accreditation, data management, chronic disease care, and preventive health initiatives. Their tailored advice and hands-on support have made a noticeable difference in our workflow and patient engagement strategies. Accreditation is always a particularly stressful and busy time at our practice, and the team at CESPHN consistently go above and beyond to support us through every step of the process—for every member of our team, from our practice manager and GPs to reception staff and myself as a nurse.

Another standout feature of CESPHN is the extensive range of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) opportunities they offer throughout the year, free of charge for non-medical staff. The courses are always topical, high-quality, and delivered in a variety of formats to ensure accessibility for all staff. Whether it’s clinical updates, digital health, mental health training, or infection control, their CPD sessions have helped me and my colleagues stay current, skilled, and confident in our clinical roles. They are also imperative in ensuring currency of CPD for accreditation.

We regularly access their Digital Health support team, who have been instrumental in us implementing E-Prescribing, Secure Messaging, Quality Improvement activities, My Health Record and ePIP programs. This allows us to stay up to date with the multitude of changes in Digital Health and security in General Practice.

CESPHN also provides access to a variety of free programs that directly support patient care, including the Health and Community Services Directory and Psychological Support Services (PSS). The PSS program, in particular, connects patients to free, short-term therapy—a valuable resource for vulnerable individuals who might otherwise struggle to access mental health support due to financial constraints.

In summary, CESPHN is an outstanding organisation that delivers free, practical, and meaningful support to healthcare professionals and the broader community. I’m incredibly grateful for their ongoing partnership and would encourage any practice or clinician in the region to make the most of what they have to offer. I engage with their team at least a few times a month and am always discovering new services and resources to support those working in general practice.

Great service! Mimi has been amazing support.

When we started setting up services within the pharmacy; finding information, knowing the steps and what is out there was hard and confusing to find especially when setting up our vaccine service.

After getting in contact with CESPHN, we were helped immensely every step of the way.

Mimi and the team have been so kind and helpful guiding us with information and even helping our staff increasing their knowledge through educational meetings.

Would highly recommend contacting CESPHN for any help.

I don't know too much about how they run their business but I've interacted several times with middle management and admin staff. I've got nothing but praises as their display an attitude of doing what's best for the organisation while being loyalty to their people, customers , suppliers and stakeholders. Best of all, they do what they say they'll do.
