As a dedicated disability support worker, I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing a troubling situation today. I accompanied my client to her scheduled medical appointment, only for her to be denied care due to outstanding invoices totaling approximately $180. While I fully acknowledge the importance of paying medical fees, my client had clearly communicated to the receptionist her intent to settle the balance upon receiving her next pension payment at her last appointment.

Despite this, the clinic refused to proceed with her consultation, citing a policy that requires all outstanding fees to be paid before further appointments. My client, who recently required intensive care, was effectively turned away from receiving essential medical attention due to financial constraints.

This situation highlights a significant issue within our healthcare system. Access to medical care should not be contingent on immediate financial capability, particularly for individuals facing health vulnerabilities. While medical practices must sustain their operations, there should be more compassionate and flexible approaches to ensure patients receive the care they need without unnecessary barriers.

A review of such policies is crucial to prevent further instances where individuals, especially those in vulnerable situations, are denied essential healthcare. Our medical system must strive to balance financial sustainability with ethical patient care.

Before responding with "please contact the practise manager Liz," I want to make it clear that the receptionist engaged in multiple discussions with you on our behalf, yet you made no effort to come out and speak with us directly.

Wonderful and welcoming reception staff, the doctor I saw, Dr Alcid, was great being very professional while interested in the patient, and pathology staff were very good too.

Never had any issue with booking through the ladies at the desk. One lady her name starts with K is always super helpful. Do your research on doctors as some are more straight forward than others and have different compassion levels.

Was instructed by the Hospital to isolate and am currently in isolation with picornavirus. Booked an appointment over the weekend for 3pm Monday with Warnervale GP and was told that even though this would be my initial consult I would seen to. Woke up to a call at 7:40 this morning (Monday) stating that I was told all of this in error and my appointment has been cancelled. Gone are the days where doctors see sick patients. Only left a one star because zero isn't an option. Not impressed at all.

Absolutely terrible customer service and ‘care’ from a Dr there. The Dr Treated my grandfather with total disrespect and spoke in a very demeaning way. This Dr has 0 people skills and needs to go retire somewhere that brings him some joy. I spoke to reception after and didn’t have any consideration for the matter.
