Very poor practice.
I grew up with doctor boyd at this practice, and ever since it changed hands it went downhill.
The nurses are gossipers, the doctors don’t seem to have a genuine care about you and just fire the confetti cannon at you. Have since changed practices and have been taken seriously, and geniune know my new doctor cares.
I was going to bring my family to this practice, but never again.
Very very poor

I cannot give a review of the surgery itself. I got nowhere close enough into attending the surgery for that!
I spoke over the phone to - well, I will not write the name - the phone answerer! Fairly new to the area - and having faced many `taking on NO new patients' - I wanted to determine if it might prove more fruitful to expand my `search area'. I can CERTAINLY, now, `rule-out' the Glover Street Surgery, Belmont. While other clinics/surgeries staff made note of a medication, that I had been taking for over a decade, and promised to let me know if there was a problem with doctor's prescription provision, not so from that call. I was faced with a `barrage' of why the telephone answerer could provide no such help. How she was beset by so many demands and how I should travel to the office to find out the answers that I was after. Of course, how my physical attendance would make the query's answer `easier', I certainly do not know. Would admin and/or doctors be more readily available if I was there? She had mentioned in a `bored sounding' pre-query blurb, that there was a pre-appointment deposit required before an actual appointment. Maybe that was what was being suggested. I can not identify any other element that would make my arrival any different from my call - just the talking would be face to face. I was seeking to pre-empt a waste of anyone's time - by THAT call! Mine, admin's and medical staff.
Having become quite flustered by the lady on the phone, I repeated the advice that I had received a few years ago - about how medical test results suggested that I should not be expecting to see what is, now, my next birthday. That actually drew a brief laugh/snort from the lady on the phone! Outrageous!
By now, I was, desperately, trying to extract myself from the call - multiple times `signing off', I thought, with goodbyes. It seemed that there was still quite a barrage of why she could not help to come - and my `goodbyes' were simply treated as `white noise'. If, as I had been told, I do not have too long a time left, dealing with this lady in ANY capacity in the future, was far too much a burden on any such time. All without, possibly, any assistance included. Since the start of my query, I KNEW I could not be a patient there - no matter what the surgery/clinic could/would do, medicine-wise - so unhelpful was the administrative help I had experienced.
Wow - I have spoken to many admin people on the subject that I had raised in that call, but never encountered anyone fixed on spending so much time advising me why she had so little time - or, in fairness, expertise - to help. I understood the technical aspects would be from a clinician or similar - not an admin officer. I will never get that time back again! And to essentially `shrug off' the sensitive subject of expected longevity with a laugh ...? Other admin people in similar areas, faced with the same query, were - comparatively - delightful and certainly helpful! All I can hope for is that my sincere - and horrified - feedback can result in remedial steps to prevent such an outpouring in another phone query. Or have phone-calls re-routed to a menu-based message-recording service. What a thoroughly horrible experience!

Parking can be a pain, but there is plenty off street parking. I'd recommend dropping your patient off outside the surgery and then drive around till you find a spot. The staff are very friendly and professional. You will not hear them talking about other patients at reception. The clinic is clean and the doctors are second to none. With a wealth of experience to draw from, this is one of the most oldest and successful surgeries in Newcastle. They bulk bill as well, so getting an appointment is recommended. Walks ins will have a bit of wait. Appointments also run a bit late but generally not longer than 15 minutes on average. Great location, fabulous staff, outstanding doctors and bulk billing make them highly recommended.

I have been a patient at Glover Street Surgery since 1946.
After the Gordon dynasty departed the surgery has been under the responsibility of Dr. Raj and Dr. Uthappa.
Both doctors live locally with their families and are wholly committed to the professional delivery of services in their practice.
They are part of the future development of Belmont and are dedicated to the well-being of their patients with their ethical and honest dealings with all patients under their care.
Dr. Raj and Dr. Uthappa are diligent, thoughtful, patient,
respectful and honest. Belmont is very fortunate to have such dedication in their community.

It's been nearly five years ago since I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Uthappa at GP Access After Hours clinic at John Hunter Hospital when I come up there to see a doctor with a suspected left scaphoid bone fracture 2 days after having a Blackout seizure ( Occitpcal Seizure Disorder ) and stacking it in the middle of our lounge room 2 nights earlier and almost accidentally crushed the dog ,
I decided to strap it up with a bandage and keep a eye on it but unfortunately it was still painful and swollen by Saturday afternoon so I went up and seen the nurse and Dr Uthappa and he done the normal examination then sent me for a general X-ray around at the Emergency Department I come back but he was unsure if I had a fracture or not so a decision was made to see how it went for the next week or so but I ended up having to see my orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dewar who did another X-ray and still wasn't convinced I hadn't done anything to it so he sent me for a urgent CT scan straight away I then required a MRI scan after seeing Dr Andrew Myers but due to Dr Myers leaving I had to consult with Dr Joshua Hunt who cleared me off any fractures and diagnosed a really bad soft tissue injury after 9 months of visiting the JHH orthopaedic outpatient clinics ,
Dr Uthappa was so kind and caring and friendly and professional towards me and was gentle with his examination thankfully didn't push on my hand to the point it nearly went through the desk ,
I would happily see him again in GP access after hours clinic if I ever needed to again ,
Thank you so much for your help Uthappa it is greatly appreciated . 😁 Kind Regards Aimee Stromeier
