We were looking for a peaceful, relaxing & romantic weekend and we definitely got more than we bargained for! Mt Hay Retreat was an exceptional experience. Each suite makes it feel like you are on your own private property. Whilst the whole place was booked out we never heard a noise from any other guests. ||The rooms are amazingly spacious- the bed super comfortable and the view from the room was breathtaking! ||It was a short trip into Berry and surrounding areas too. ||Louise and Anthony were the perfect hosts making sure we had everything we needed … including the delicious chocolate strawberries and sparkling wine on arrival! ||Can’t recommend this couples retreat highly enough!

Absolutely the best retreat in Berry. Loved every minute of our 2 night stay. Very relaxing, we felt so welcomed as soon as we arrived right up to the minute we left. Every detail has been well thought out, even the bathroom towels were a 5* experience, the bed was super comfortable and the pillows also. We were lucky enough also that we had a daytime visitor who would normally not come out during the day! Can’t wait to come back again, definitely the only retreat I’ll stay at while I’m in the southern highlands. Thanks Anthony and Louise.

Mt Hay Retreat – peaceful, private, and beautifully put together

We stayed in the Escarpment Suite and absolutely loved it. It’s quiet, private, and designed to help you switch off – floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive escarpment views, and a calm, open layout that makes you feel like you’ve got the whole hilltop to yourself.

The little hospitable touches were great – milk in the fridge, fruit on the table, a welcome note, and a bunch of brochures with useful suggestions for what to do in the area. Even though it rained most of the time, the suite was warm, cosy, and somewhere you’re more than happy to settle in and enjoy the quiet.

The bathroom was a standout – the spa bath with a view was perfect for a rainy afternoon soak, and the rain shower was just as good.

The grounds are also beautiful – everything is immaculately kept, from the gardens and veggie patches to the walking paths and the sculptures scattered around. The cloud swing is a bit of magic – floating above the valley with that view is a real highlight.

Anthony and Louise were lovely – friendly, helpful, and clearly care about making the place feel special. We’d absolutely come back.

Weekend away - not to be missed!
We have been to Berry many times and this was the best!
A call to Mt Hay the day before to confirm our arrival time already indicated the care and helpfulness when Anthony answered the call.
The Luxury Suite exceeded expectation. From the spectacular direct view over the Berry valley, everything in the suite that opens and shuts.
We were met by Louise and Anthony on arrival and we were shown to our suite. It was exactly as advertised and more.
The property has been in Anthony’s family ownership since 1987, which they developed themselves, which underscores the love and passion they clearly demonstrated.
There is no doubt about a revisit when next in Berry.
Highly recommended - thanks so much Anthony and Louise!

We were very impressed with our bungalow, very clean, fans, air conditioning, coffee machine and a very nice bathroom with a spa. The soaps and creams in the bathroom were very good quality. It's a retreat for rest. The pool is really wonderful, - you can do laps, or sit in the spa. Or you can go for walks. Bedroom was well appointed and the bed was comfortable.|There is a fridge, microwave, tea, coffee pods and milk. so if you want food, you will have to bring some with you. The nearest food outlets are in Berry which is an 8 minute drive on a fairly windy one lane road. A little harrowing the first time you drive it but there is so little traffic that it turns out to be OK.|The hosts are friendly and very helpful. The views from our room were spectacular and so the whole experience was relaxing and restful.

A lovely spot for a getaway! The views out from the room are stunning. The blinds are set up perfectly for blocking the sun at later spots in the day. It’s only a short drive to get into the town to pick up coffees, donuts or pastries. The hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly.
