The administration staff at GSCR are the kindest and most compassionate people. They have been incredibly understanding of my many many tears for over two years now. They have reprinted invoices and accommodated life getting in the way of my appointments without me feeling judged.
Nothing is a bother to them. I am grateful for their care. The waiting area is quiet and comfortable. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at GSCR.

Appalling reception staff. They are quick and organised in collecting invoices, slow and baffled by any requests that require to do something on behalf of the patient.

They don't seem to understand basic technology; they refuse, reflexively, to provide information that they have to provide by law.

Lastly, there was a complete lack of comprehension outside of their bubble. It's like talking to people whose entire world has been limited to a single cubicle.

I'm sure the staff of psychs are great, but it's not worth it to deal with the people behind the counter.

UPDATE TO REPLY:

I had to follow up repeatedly to make sure you sent the information, having to instruct you directly to use email.

This is what I meant by cubicle thinking. I got a referral to one psych who worked at two clinics. In this case, to the clinic they're only at only one of their working days. So instead of sending it to the referral clinic, and the other clinic, and even directly to him, you did it 'correctly'.

Read the reviews, you are constantly failing to meet people's expectations

I was referred to Dr Lisa brown by my own neurologist (I have epilepsy). At first she was lovely and I was assessed and met criteria for ADHD and reside in a difficult, DV situation. I required a letter for centrelink which she stated she would write. I received a draft to approve end of 2023 and she stated she would do the final one before her holiday. Long story short, never received it and this was crucial for centrelink and for me because I was getting somewhere with my explanation with my behaviours. This year, I was diagnosed with perimenopause and for someone with epilepsy the seizures increase. I had to cancel many morning appointments as I seized through the night. This seemed to be more of a hindrance to her than her being understanding and when I requested being taken back on I was told no and her books are closed in November - yet I had been calling since September 2024. For mental health professionals I have noticed that if patients have seizures or things out of their control , there is no compassion . They want money and that’s all and if you aren’t able to predict your hormones or what is going on with your chronic illnesses, you will be disregarded. I’m disappointed in this entire experience.

As a local GP I often refer patients to GSCR. I find the reception staff to be pleasant and helpful whenever I call. The psychiatrists at these rooms have a great deal of experience between them and individually they offer a caring and conscientious approach in dealing with mental health issues. The practice has been running for many years and various of the doctors specialise in ADHD, depression, anxiety and child and adolescent issues. GSCR is always my first port of call when I am trying to find a psychiatrist for my patients.

I can't speak for the quality of the doctors but trying to get an appointment here is a disappointing experience.

Having got a referral from my GP I called to make an appointment and was told I would have to send a copy through to them before I could do so. There's no email address, so you have to contact your GP and ask them to fax it through. Once referral came through I was told that the doctor's books were closed.

It completely baffles me as to why I wasn't told this when I first called and was asked to go to the extra effort of faxing a referral instead. Receptionist comes off as dismissive and impatient on the phone.

I want to emphasize that the review below is 100000% correct so I wanted to re-post it.

"My doctor there is very good, but reception system is archaic, don't even email, so if you're in a situation where you need forms filled out and sent anywhere just go somewhere else, much less hassle. Unless you still use fax, or telegram, or messenger pigeon, or ancient Latin etched into stone tablets delivered via foot messenger."

My review:

I have had multiple experiences where the messages I have left with reception have been misplaced and my doctor never got back to me. There isn't even a voicemail system at this practice and the only way to leave a message is via reception. These ladies are probably lovely in their personal lives but the practice enables them to be on some kind of gatekeeping power trip between vulnerable patients and their doctors.

I recall once running around the Sydney Uni area looking for a fax machine so I could leave a message for my doctor. After multiple phone calls to public libraries, the only public fax in existence was at Glebe Officeworks for a premium of $4 a page. I decided mailing a letter to my doctor was not only a better price, but it was more secure, and cheaper than a fax.

In a time of great need, my doctor failed me. Not because they are incapable, but because the system they have imposed on themselves allowed for it to happen.

Unless you still use fax, or telegram, or messenger pigeon, or ancient latin etched into stone tablets delivered via foot messenger.

The fault of the current medicare system not covering emails, understandable for giving patient advice, but when a form needs to be sent somewhere, email should be able to be used, even if no replies are checked at that address. Just as a tool for sending information.

Aside from the technicalities this practice is very professional and the receptionists themselves pleasant and efficient with the tools they have.
