Ifyou suffer from any sort of pain, I had an appointment with a specialist a couple months ago and they couldnt comprehend that my condition isnt curable and has seemingly random pain fluctuations. The specialist attempted to correct me on my own condition multiple times showing a distinct lack of respect and care and refused to accept that i knew my chronic condition of 10 years better then them.

I went to this specialist to get a pain management plan and to make a plan to reduce my opioid use as pain dies down, the specialist told me they wont provide me either of those plans and attempted to scare me into going off of my pain management even though my pain is completely dehibilitating currently.

These specialists will mark you as an opioid abuser even if you have multiple doctors and other specialists monitoring your condition, this clinic is pointless and aims to ignore your needs, i highly recommend going to another pain clinic such as the canberra hospital instead.

These doctors will talk down to you and ignore your needs.

This clinic will not help you with pain management or support go elsewhere.

Im appauled by the lack of support to chronically ill and acutely ill patients and im absolutely disgusted to see doctors still dont understand pain and respect, this is why we dont recieve treatment and why sufferage continues.

Waste of time, stick with your GP or find a private pain management specialist, in my partners case he had waited well over 3 years for an appointment after they lost his initial referral and had to be placed on the waiting list again, only to then be told after 1-2 short appointments that 'there's no way your getting any therapeutic benefit at a level worth continuing with current prescribed pain relief' and 'this is what the studies have shown'.

No two people with the same injury and pain level will always respond in the same way to treatments, yes studies can be used to assist but not to blatantly disregard what a patient is telling you.
Only we know the level of pain were in and whether our treatment is sufficient or not.
If someone has NEVER asked for their medication to be increased (aside from initial dose adjustment to achieve a somewhat reasonable level of relief) and has happily tried all other options apart from accepting MORE stronger opiates i.e Fentanyl/Morphine patches doesn't that show that they are satisfied with the current state of relief?!
So in one hand we were given option 1 switch to patches of stronger nature or option 2 be titrated down off of the current (working and achieving pain relief) medication, all because they believe because the studies show that he should no longer be getting any therapeutic benefit at all.

Its almost medical blackmail, take what we want to give you and we'll see how this goes from a statistic's perspective because we need- & are being directed - to get our prescription rates of this other medication down. We must do it to you because the government said so.

So If your suffering Chronic Pain..
Stick to a specialist you're paying, not the government, thats If you want to be treated like a patient not a Guinea pig used to get prescription rates in check-while your left to suffer.
