Referred to Just Better Care through a third party. Desperate for help with a newly disabled family member, we signed a service agreement for core supports to start. However, soon realised we were OVERCHARGED over $598 for 11.5hrs of general supports received. It didn’t matter that our service agreement and initial face to face discussion did not correlate with the amount they charged us.

Spoke to the manager and she explained how I could request a review with NDIS and ask for more funding with examples of how she worked the system so we could keep the same expensive support worker rather than train up a new one. It was too difficult so I then formally requested a termination of our service agreement. The next day I received a call from the manager who surprisingly informed me I could get support with the SAME worker for her OTHER, reduced rate - a rate which we were never told about. Around this time, our family member started to exhibit scary health issues and it became clear that the support worker also had an undisclosed habit that negatively affected their already compromised respiratory health.

While happily relieved that Just Better Care refunded the overcharged $598 and they do seem like quite nice people, it was a very stressful situation and had I not checked our account as early as I did, we would have run out of money. Just Better Care also did not, in any way, address my request NOT to let this happen to someone else needing disability support - hence my review. I highly recommend that while support is something desperately needed, it is important to check over your statements for charged services…Just Better Care …just not.
