My husband recently came to Bupa Bateau Bay. He immediately felt happy and comfortable in the environment and this was not how he had experienced care previously.The team at Bupa are all very professional with their genuine care given to my husband. Every team member is always ready to listen to him, help him to resolve any concern he has, encourage him to be involved with the lifestyle activities. Bupa Bateau Bay are amazing! The entire team are so welcoming, accommodating and caring and go that extra mile to insure your loved one is in safe hands.
The care home itself is nice and bright with plenty of natural light throughout the facility and they have done their best to make it feel homely with nice décor, furnishings and gardens.

A fully accredited well run aged care facility with friendly and caring nusing and clinical/allied health care staff with adequate ratios. Over the past 18months our mother has received consistent great care in a protected safe environment and enjoys the ambient tranquil outdoor gardens. Management are focused on continuous improvement and are open to and encourage feedback from residents and their loved ones.

A truly wonderful facility with exceptional staff. My mother in law has been so well cared for and absolutely loves the place. She suffered from depression before going in there due to isolation and not doing much at home. She has made so many friends and is busy all day everyday filling her day with activities and outings and has not smiled so much in years. The yards are very inviting and her room very comfortable. It really gives my wife and I such a piece of mind to know she is well looked after and enjoys her time there. It’s so important. Food is pretty good with great variety as well.

Both my parents are residents at Bateau Bay. It was an extremely hard decision for our family to place them both in care at the same time. The wonderful staff have made them feel very welcome. They are all so caring, friendly and helpful. It puts our mind at rest knowing they are being so well cared for.

The care staff are amazing on the Blue Bay ward.
When my mother was admitted, her medication was handed over and documented. Her ointment wasn't applied, this resulted in cellulitis and being put on antibiotics. We were told there was no ointment, it wasn't handed over, it was there, it wasn't. In the end we had to pay for a nurse and taxi to take her to the specialist so they could tell Bupa to put the ointment on!
When I was told conflicting information that contradicted her notes I asked to view a copy. I was told I could, then told I couldn't, then I could. I wasn't able to prove the medication or that my mother was having meltdowns as noted in her file. I always felt that I wasn't being told the truth.
A doctor immunised many residents without consulting patients records or staff. Had they been consulted residents wouldn't have been given a second dose. Luckily it wasn't something fatal. Bupa's response was to say the Doctor was naughty and that if I complained they would be without a doctor.
When my mother passed, she was taken to Simplicity. After 5-6 days she had to be taken to the doctors surgery to have her death assessed. I haven't been able to find out if this happened in a car park. I couldn't see her being wheeled in with the living for a consult! I think people would be shocked to find out what happens when a resident dies.
Over the years there have been many problems, one safety issue was fobbed off until staff where asked if there was a trip hazard. When it was confirmed by staff Bupa had to fix the issue.
Emails weren't passed on when staff were on leave or left. It was always difficult to phone, I was cut off or told to call back.
At the end I couldn't get anyone to let me speak to my mother.
I feel management let down the amazing care staff.
I can't get an answer about the doctors surgery consult, so I assume it was done in the car park. I will be following this and the flu jab up with NSW Health.
I have contacted Bupa many times, I am waiting for a response from the manager at Bupa Bateau Bay, I messaged in early December and Bupa Facebook, I messaged in December and a few days ago.

Bupa is by far the most amazing aged care. The staff are absolutely beautiful! Everyone is smiling and they all do their best to make sure everyone is cared for and has someone to keep them company. Highly recommend 🙂

Staff asulted my grandmother, forcefully shoving her dentures in her mouth and leaving marks on her face, management swept it under the rug! Along with leaving her to sleep in till after 10am most days so she would miss breakfast and wouldn't change her clothes so we would have to do it when we went there. Lost her glasses on numberous occasions that cost $800 to replace each time! Do yourseld a favour and do not use these people to care for beloved family members ?
