On a recent visit to this clinic, I was unfortunate enough to witness an interaction between the desk staff and a patient in the waiting room. Everyone behaves as they do for a reason and I'm sure I did not see (nor do I know) the whole picture but regardless of reason, the patient's interaction with the desk staff in this instance was rude, entitled and overall, childish. Throughout it all, the staff member (who I got the sense was new-ish) handled it politely, professionally, and calmly. The patient ended up leaving in a huff, not wanting to take any of the options available. Afterwards, another more senior member of staff checked in with and talked through the interaction (in a very non-partisan way, taking all sides into account) with the staff member who dealt with it. It was an excellent display of support and building the professional confidence and capability of new staff. This kind of team work really shows and every interaction I have ever had with the reception team or doctors has been of the highest level of professionalism, care and efficiency.
