Horrid place. I waited over 8 hours to be seen. Given a 2minute assessment which consisted of about 3 yes/no questions and told to go home. When I questioned it asked to see someone else. She came in rolled her eyes and swore at me. When I tried to complain about being sworn at they sent someone else out who kept refusing to talk to my advocate who I had on my phone.

They ask we respect the staff. How about the staff don't eye roll swear and refuse to talk to patients advocates.

Also the nurses all walk around looking like cows chewing gum.

Just don't bother with this hospital. Wait times are a joke and the staff don't care about you.

It's a shame to see all of the negative experiences here, and I do wish for those people and in the future that the empathy and capacity to help people, especially those who need urgent care is improved. I had a scheduled day surgery today for the first time with the family advisory clinic and didn't know what to expect, but my nurses, doctors and anesthesiologist, even other patients were all super kind and comforting and made my experience more positive than I'd expect. I hope to all now and in the future that come here for similar reasons or otherwise are met with the same care and and tenderness that I was in some way.

If you are keen to having the WORST hospital experience ever, Lyell McEwin is perfectly suited for you. Whether you’ve broken some bones or you’re on the verge of dying, you’ll need to wait for several hours before anyone comes to your aid. The staff are extremely careless, rude, and unprofessional.

I understand that some patients make it difficult for the workers, hence the mentality of the workers. However, these workers have developed this extremely unprofessional attitude toward all their patients, despite being treated with full respect in return.

With that said, I’d personally never step into this Hospital again and I’ve realised that I could relate to many others who have stayed in this hospital.

This was nothing short of a nightmare, the most degrading and appalling experience of my life. After undergoing surgery, facing the serious risks of infection and blood clots, I was brought in by ambulance as an emergency. Yet, I was abandoned in a chair for over five agonizing hours. When I pleaded for a place to lie down, knowing that sitting after surgery was dangerous, I was coldly told to lie on the floor in the corridor if I wanted. The floor! Such a response is beyond disgraceful.
As I spoke with others, I discovered people had been waiting in misery for 8 to 10 hours, some enduring conditions even more dire and horrifying than mine. Meanwhile, my health was rapidly deteriorating. When I began bleeding and nearly lost consciousness, I desperately alerted the triage nurse, only to be met with a dismissive and heartless, “You’re fine, just sit and wait.”
I left that place, utterly disgusted and determined never to return, and sought care at another hospital where the compassion and professionalism were a stark contrast, exactly how human beings deserve to be treated. This inhumane, callous behavior cannot and must not be tolerated. Immediate action is needed to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure no one ever endures such barbaric treatment again.

Nice hospital, but when you ring up to follow you up with your appointment, they give you a bit of a run around you go from one department to another. This is very tipcal of our SA Health system it's totally under pressure. I'm not blaming the hospital staff they are doing everything they do. The government promised to fix it, but failed, they broke there promise to fix the health system.

Front entrance near emergency has had construction happening for so long, hope it’s gets completed sometime soon. Makes parking difficult. The multi-storey park available is good but entrance to hospital is confusing and the layout and map is really no help. Signs need to be better to avoid getting lost to get to destination for appointments.
Emergency wasn’t good but neither bad, they were assisting to make the wait more comfortable, was then moved and admitted into a room within 5 hours. Then transferred rooms 3 times with 2 days was quite annoying.
Nurses & Staff are mostly lovely and helpful exception of a few who clearing have no bedside manner. Doctors always send the young ones first then oversea the treatment, which care plan changes often so was hard to get some straight answers.
Hospital Food has not improved.
COVID restrictions put in place for visitors - main entrance to checkin with time, vaccination check, replace with new mask before entry. Another sign in a the nurses station before entry to patient room to visit. Patient visits limited to one person per patient per day for maximum 2 hours.
