Saw Mark Russo and was bitterly disappointed by his attitude and non treatment. Previously, I'd been under the care of a pain specialist in Sydney, who was amazing, and with the correct pain medication, I was able to function and lose a LOT of weight by gentle exercise and swimming.
My one and only consultation with Russo took all but five minutes where he told me to get bariactric surgery (sorry, but I don't have a spare $15,000 in the bank, and when asked about pain relief, was told he did not do that!
My previous pain specialist had provided a detailed report specifying what treatment I had received and what medications I required.
Total waste of time, and I left feeling insulted and feeling like a low form of life that had wasted his time.

In tears after my appointment. After expressing my frustration that my pain keeps being written off as fibromyalgia, when I have certain symptoms that don't align, and fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion; Dr Marc Russo proceeded to tell me that my brain is "just wired differently," referencing things like my insomnia since childhood, and told me that it doesn't matter if we call it fibromyalgia or something else.

He then told me to exercise more in a way that works for me. I have tried every level of all different types of exercise; my last attempts left me with a fractured femur. Attempts before that have left me with other broken bones and torn ligaments, or partial dislocations.

At what point do women suffering chronic pain get to be taken seriously? Not everything can be written off as in our heads.

While the doctor was very personable, he wrote on my report several therapies I could try, which, I informed him , I had already tried - he said he would write it in anyway. the ndis knocked back my claim advising that I had not exhausted all treatments according to the drs recommendations (the stuff he would "write in anyway"). I contacted the practice to ask if he would amend the report (all of which he had written from what I told him) and he said I would have to make another appointment because too much time had passed (a couple of weeks) - I would need to pay an additional $300+ ! Talk about money for jam! No I would not recommend

Discharged from my career in the military with a back injury. I floated around the medical system after that for 5 years from Brisbane to Melbourne with no improvement. When I arrived to see Dr Russo and his team, they were welcoming and professional.

The biggest thing I noticed with Dr Russo is that he never gave up in trying to fix my condition, where other medical professionals I saw I believed them to have put me in the “too hard basket”, Dr Russo gave me many different options to try and had laid out a treatment plan, even if some minor procedures have not much improvement, he continued to look into my problem until we arrived at getting an implant put in which is helping me tremendously!

Dr Russo and his team are amazing, very professional caring people with nothing is a problem.
I have been going to Dr Russo for 11years without his help I wouldn't be able to life a completely normal life, he & his team really don't know what they have done for me personally.
There operating surgery is so very clean /sterile 10 /10 for everything.

I have been a patient of Dr Russo’s for over 20 years and owe him my life. My pain condition is chronic, severe and unless a miracle happens, it can’t be cured. Every time I hit rock bottom Dr Russo works with me, knows the latest research and treatments.
For those who decided to not continue seeing him, I hope you have found a pain specialist who is as obsessed with treatment options and research for cures as he is.
Dr Russo can appear a little stern at times but I am not there to have dinner with him but want to be seen by a Dr who has dedicated his life to help those of who are in agony every second of our lives.
For me it is important that my medical team sees me as part of the team, to allow my input and to find ways to keep me as independent as possible and Dr Russo is the person who listens and works with me instead of just pumping me full of meds.
I am so incredibly grateful for the care, treatment options provided by Dr Russo and his incredible support team, in my opinion 5 stars are not enough to rate him fairly

After an operation from a back surgeon I was sent to Dr Volschenk when my pain was still there. The back surgeon did the wrong area and basically told me it was all in my head.

Dr Volschenk was awesome. He found the problem straight away. I had 4 surgeries with Hunter Pain Specialist and the staff, doctors, nurses were great. Welcomed questions, warm and compassionate.

Thoroughly recommend this business and Dr Volschenk. Even sent my mum here also
