I was very cautious about going into an adult mental health care ward because of recent events. From the admission through to discharge I was treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The nursing and administrative staff were engaged, patient and I felt supported. The nurses spent time consistently working with me to understand all the treatment options, available support and to help me with my program. I recommend this safe, gentle and supportive environment if you need to get help.

Been in the youth program for a month here, Nurse Kylie is absolutely awful. She comes into my room and grabs my toes to wake me up. Nurses are not allowed to touch you unless necessary. She is rude and shouldn’t be working with children.

Other than that this place is lovely. food is great and i’ve met some amazing people here.

12 months since my last admission! I'd love to give a big shout out and love to Dr Vuong. She's always believed in me, instilled confidence in me that we would develop a treatment plan that worked, reassured me and showed genuine care/compassion. I owe this woman my life. I never thought I'd be so willing to brag about how great my psychiatrist and psychiatric admission was. But here I am!

Fantastic place, food and staff. The patients themselves are supportive and willing to help each other. The food is wonderful, and most nurses seem to care. You consistently see your psychiatrists and are monitored, and have access to help as you need. DBT therapy is extremely beneficial and works in combination with your medications and mind, making it ideal for those who haven't benefited from CBT. Josen, Katie, Izzy, Ria, and all other nurses are fantastic - going above and beyond for anyone needing help. Eric, the head nurse, is both caring and empathetic to those who are navigating their recovery.

A warning to anyone going in for the first time or as a young adult: avoid nurse Kylie. There is a reason she was not allowed on the young adult unit for a period of time(many complaints). She needs retraining and compassion. She consistently threatens discharge for minor inconveniences. She rarely listens, and is known by both current and past patients as "the one to avoid". She instils sense of fear in already vulnerable people, and rarely listens to them as she seems "above" those struggling.

Ignore the disparaging comments about a certain nurse, in my experience she is a wonderful contribution to the hospital and anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t understand mental health first aid or the importance of upholding therapeutic boundaries for the sake of the patient’s wellbeing. Hospitals are about care, not customer service.

I was admitted on a voluntary basis for an acute mental health crisis, I couldn’t be happier with my treatment. I was treated with kindness, dignity and respect throughout my admission.
The nursing and therapeutic staff are lovely, the doctors are professional and courteous.
The cleaners are so sweet and thorough. The kitchen staff are friendly and the food is amazing.
If this wasn’t a hospital and it was a resort I’d still give it 5 stars, and recommend it to friends - as it’s a mental health facility I hope I don’t need to recommend it but if they required it, without a doubt I would recommend.
My recovery was assisted and expedited due to the whole team and environment provided by Gordon Private.

Fabulous day programs with amazingly helpful and friendly staff. I have lost all trust in the public system and Gordon Private has been a saving grace for me and if it wasn’t for their programs I would certainly no longer be with us.

They accept DVA and the admissions team is familiar with the paperwork required for approval for treatment

OVERALL RATING: ★★★☆☆
NURSE KYLIE, STEPH, TOM and KATE: ★★★★★
RECEPTIONISTS: ★★★★★
CATERERS: ★★★★★

Been going to this hospital since 2021 with a total 8 admission and have had an array of experience positive and negative. Let’s start with the positives.

Nurse Kylie may be stern and goes by the book, yet she is the most well trained mental health nurse I have ever met. She knows how to do the job and without her this hospital would not be able to run. She was the only mental health professional to teach me how to get out of dissociative panic attacks and has always been respectful to me. If I have broken a rule, Kylie reminds me that I have and gives me the opportunity to respect that and change my behaviour. Nurse Tom is also one of the most well trained nurses who has been in all of my admissions. He truly cares about helping others and making sure rules are being followed while needs are being met.

Nurse Steph makes everyone feel comfortable and heard, making sure if they need to talk she is always there with a listening ear.

Nurse Kate has only been in with Gordon for last year or two, yet she has been one of the most note worthy nurses in my opinion. Nothing but genuine compassion and one of the most hard working and dedicated nurses I have ever met.

Receptionists and Caterers genuinely care about patients and go beyond being polite.

AS WELL AS MY FAVOURITE CLEANER OLGA!!! She has the biggest heart and radiates positive energy which is so healing.

NOW!! onto the negative.
I have non-epileptic seizures in which I am conscious, I have not yet been able to find the cause of these. I have had a total of 2-3 seizures and the nurses who were on duty during these treated me horrendously and put my life in danger. The most recent one was in January/February. I started having pre-seizure warnings and told nurses this as I was starting to become confused and lose all strength in my muscles. They took me to my room, told me to “rest” and to “press the button if you think you need help”… I was then left alone for 20-45minute intervals in which i was having mild seizure episodes… I was terrified and scared and stayed lucid by repeating my name, date and location as well as trying to monitor my OWN symptoms. The ambulance was not called till 3 hours later.. I am looking for a new mental health hospital to move to as I do not feel safe here anymore even if I know how much this place has helped me in the past.
