Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology at the University of NSW

Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology, specifically located at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), stands as a prominent diagnostic service provider within one of Australia's leading academic institutions. This specific location, operating within the Quadrangle Building on the Kensington campus, serves a dual purpose, catering to both the university community and the wider public seeking high-caliber pathology testing.

Location and Accessibility

Nestled within the University of New South Wales campus in Kensington, the Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology facility is easily identifiable. Situated at Anzac Parade, 2033, the Quadrangle Building houses this essential medical service. A key consideration for many visitors is accessibility. The location is thoughtfully equipped with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that the facility is welcoming and usable by everyone. Furthermore, a wheelchair-accessible toilet is available on the premises alongside standard toilet facilities, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and meeting the diverse needs of patients and visitors.

Contact Information

For those needing to reach out, the primary contact number is accessible via telephone at 296620330. Comprehensive information regarding services, appointment bookings, and location details can also be obtained through their dedicated University of NSW location page available online at www.dhm.com.au/locations/UI/NSW-University. This digital resource is invaluable for planning visits and understanding the scope of services provided.

Services and Expertise

The UNSW campus branch is staffed by qualified and experienced Pathologists, ensuring that diagnostic testing is carried out with the highest level of expertise and adherence to strict professional standards. While specific service offerings might align with broader DHM capabilities, this particular location focuses primarily on providing comprehensive blood testing and related pathology services. It serves as a crucial stop for students, researchers, healthcare professionals associated with the university, and the general public requiring reliable and efficient pathology diagnostics.

Considerations Based on Community Feedback

While the facility offers essential services, feedback from the community provides important context for potential users. It is noted that the cost of certain services can be significantly higher compared to other providers. For instance, one documented experience highlighted a charge of $320 for a blood test, a figure considerably exceeding the cost mentioned at another provider, which was $89 and covered by student insurance. This price point suggests that individuals without supplemental insurance or those comparing costs should factor this into their decision-making process. However, it's also worth noting that despite the cost, the overall experience, including staff friendliness and service efficiency, was reported positively by some users, with the service itself being described as quick and easy.

When considering visiting or utilizing the services, prospective clients should be prepared for potentially higher costs compared to other pathology options in the vicinity. It is advisable to inquire directly about specific tests and associated fees before proceeding. The friendly and efficient service experienced by some individuals indicates that, despite the cost factor, the facility can provide a positive patient experience focused on accuracy and accessibility for its UNSW location.

Too expensive. I had a blood test done and they charged me 320 dollars. I got the same one at 4Cyte Pathology and only cost 89 which my student insurance covered.
The staff was nice and it was all ok other than that

I attended this place a while ago, and my experience there was so appalling, I complained to the head office, requesting that when they hire someone to take my blood, they ensure that person communicate verbally, and then, in a sentence that I can understand, not "You got pension?" And "Up down,
up down", refusing to give me an ECG requested by my doctor, and telling me "Go away", because I told her she was rude. Apparently, those signs up at this place demanding respect only apply to the clients coming in, not the ill-trained, illiterate staff they employ. This morning, I had reason to go there again, and the same person was there, telling me to sign the request form, or I'd get a bill. I spoke to another staff member there, a more professional man, and told him what had happened the last time I was there. He was polite and conciliatory, but in defence of his colleague, and then mentioned the term, "multicultural", bringing out the "race" card. I insisted that wasn't the problem there, explaining that I'm an educated woman, a retired ESL teacher, and I understand multiculturalism, but I refuse to be treated disrespectfully by anyone from anywhere, especially in my own land. "Multiculturalism" is no excuse for rude and unprofessional behaviour in Australia, and it never will be.

Yongmei is efficient and friendly. She is also very talented at putting in and removing the needle painlessly! Was in and out in 5 minutes. Very pleasant experience as far as blood tests go.
