My mum was recently transferred to Macksville Hospital for sub acute care. All staff were extremly helpful and polite, from the receptionist, dinner lady, cleaners, volunteers to the NUM. Their interactions with other patients that I observed were also professional and very kind. I was confident leaving my mum in their care. It is a newly built facility with green space views from rooms. Thank you Macksville Hospital community.

The emergency department was exceptional. Their bed side manner was impeccable. They gave my baby the best of best care and attentiveness. Can not fault this hospital. Thank you again for all assistance.

We've been in the ambulance two days ago with our 10 month old child. In the initial screening we found a tick on the head that was instantly removed WITH THE PLAIN HAND. It was that quick that we've not had the chance to interrupt but that cannot be the default procedure to remove ticks. Everywhere you go you read signs - "use pray" , "freeze ticks" etc. and in the hospital it's removed with the pain hand. Oh gosh. That's how our journey started.

Unfortunately it didn't get any better when talking to the doctor. He asked a lot of useless questions in the beginning that had nothing to do with the rash that we observed on our child. Aside from the correct judgement that our child is well right now and there is no life threatening situation ongoing he had no clue. He wasn't able to determine if it's an allergic reaction or an infection, he wasn't searching for ticks - indeed it seems that he has not read the report that has been concluded in the screening when entering the hospital. Finally he advised us to visit a different hospital if it gets worse - while knowing that it's actually more distant.

In the end I asked for a copy of the report and the diagnosis. He wasn't able to hand it out and asked us to come back the day after to get it at the reception - sure thing! I'm always happy to drive 20km to get a report, I replied.

After a few hours, my wife and I, sorted a few things out and got clarity. Our German doctors were able to diagnose and narrow the root cause of the rash. They were also able to tell if its and infection or allergy. They were also able to tell if a tick can cause that kind of rash. They were also able to determine - correctly - the root cause of the problem from the distance.

So if you are not having a life threatening situation I strongly advise anyone to go to Coffs Harbor instead or pay a doctor online service.

Excellent and patient staff who put up with all kinds of abuse and whining and still manage to keep a smile on their faces! All of the staff were lovely, and I was impressed with Andrew's happy and jovial bedside manner that kept anxiety at bay, regardless of the patient's age, and a positive mood for everyone.
THANK YOU to you all, for your excellent care, but I am hoping that I won't have to see you again soon! ?

Recently had 2 day surgeries within a month of each other at Macksville Hospital & cannot speak highly enough of the staff from the receptionist to nurses, doctors, all staff involved bar one nurse who clearly lacks empathy & patience, barks at you rather than talks as an equal. I made a mistake, was not hydrated enough, told me this is not going to be good… was left with me feeling the surgery could be put off because of it increasing already anxious state. 3 (roughly done) painful attempts at cannula insertion later (I paid for it). Never had a particular fear previous to this experience. Prior to a procedure most people feel vulnerable & anxious…uncaring, snappy, cold natured staff can cause unnecessary fear in these situations & is not helpful. In saying that, everyone has bad days when they are not at their best & it was particularly busy.
With that aside everyone else was so professional, caring, informative, patient…the nurses were so thoughtful & genuinely kind. Second day surgery could not fault anything, best hospital experience I have had, efficient, professional, felt safe & was supported from start to finish, cared for extremely well. If I had a choice I would definitely choose Macksville Hospital over any others within the local area. Hope this info helps someone!

I had to visit this emergency unit on the evening of May 22, 2023 and I have never been treated so well. All the staff in particular the amazing nurse from England were thoughtful, kind and thorough. I am so so grateful to them!

My partner was treated in the emergency department yesterday and was taken in and attended to straight away as well as receiving professional care he found the staff to be most genuine and caring. He was only in for a few hours and given IV fluids etc; discharged feeling much better and received a follow up call today from a doctor to check on how he is. Such a lovely caring touch! Thank you a Macksville!
