Thank you to all the GARS team for their care and support to our beautiful Hugo, who was treated for a tumour on the heart in December 2024. The professionalism of the GARS team helped us through the journey from beginning to end. We miss our Hugo so very much, however we are reassured that we did everything we could with the time we had with him. We highly recommend the services of GARS to all pet owners.

I was first referred to Geelong Animal Referral Services in March 2024 with our little red poodle Bent-lee. He spent a week in hospital with hepatitus and a cyst on his liver, I was able to have visits and to call at anytime of the day or night for an update on his condition, I even called at 12.30 am once to see how he was going. Bent-lee was very sick when admitted and we did not expect for him to survive the ordeal and he would not have done so without the 24/7 care from the vets and vet nurses at Geelong Animal Referral Services as 1 week later Bent-lee walked out to the car and he was heading home.
In April 2024 our little champagne man had a melanoma removed from the side of his mouth. Whilst he did not require a stay in hospital after the surgery he was given such special treatment and showed no signs of being distressed about being away from home.
In February 2025 our little red boy Jaymee-lee was admitted to Geelong Animal Referral Services and was within a couple of hours diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and given that Jaymee-lee just like his brothers who were all 16 years old when admitted to this service, was given the absolute best attention. Jaymee-lee's condition was not curable but we were able to take him home after 1 week in hospital to manage his conditon under the guidance of the vets. Once again I visited Jaymee-lee daily and he to was able to walk out of the hospital to go home. My 3 little men were part of the Quaddies born on July 26, 2008 along with their little sister Aymee-lee.
I would not hesitate in recommending Geelong Animal Referral Services, as I found the care of the pets and their owners also was above and beyond. Given I have been a poodle owner for many years I always believe that the owner knows the pet better than anyone and what I welcomed was they acknowledged that and gave the best advice for the pet with such empathy and that meant a lot to me. Thank you to all the staff at Geelong Animal Referral Services your attention to detail and service is very much appreciated.

Dr Kate and the team at GARS were absolutely amazing when our cat Obi was recently in with a bit of a weird kidney issue. Over the course of almost two weeks, which culminated with kidney removal surgery, the team were phenomenal. We called whenever we had questions or were unsure on something, and Kate or someone else was always available to talk us through it; we even came in one night at like 11pm because we were worried about our little man, and the day before his surgery we were able to spend time with him and have lots of snuggles. Obi is home now and back to his normal self, all thanks to the wonderful, diligent and thorough care of GARS.

I had to take my Frenchie into emergency last night who was quite sick with several issues, and the vet on at the time, Kim Riddle, was so so kind to him. She was unbelievably thorough and took her time to make sure he was given the best care. GARS is very lucky to have her!!

We were referred to the GARs team, with our Cairne Terrier Eddy. A huge thanks to Dr Barry Hedgespeth, who took the time to listen and then work through all the possibilities for Eddy. Following Eddy’s procedure Dr Hedgespeth discussed all of the available options and best ways to move forward with Eddy, not only was Dr Hedgespeth thorough, he provided a complete written overview, ensuring when we got home the whole family could understand what is happening. Amazing bedside manner and compassion when discussing how we can make Eddy comfortable. Thanks Doc

From the very first phone call I made to GARS, I knew that me and my little dog Kip, were in safe hands. Friendly, helpful and caring staff ensuring they could accomodate Kip and his surgical needs. On the morning of his surgery we were welcomed with friendly staff as soon as we walked in the door.
Thank you to Dr Adrian, Dr Fernando, Dr Brad and the whole team for taking care of Kip.
I know that I can speak for myself and a lot of other pet parents when I say how grateful we are to have your fabulous service, skills, knowledge and care. You all do an amazing job and we’re so lucky to have you!

I cannot recommend the team at Gars highly enough. Our beautiful Murphy who was only 18 months old had a procedure done 2 months ago through our vet but still had issues. We were referred to GARs but had to wait a week to get in. Murphy was deteriorating so I called them & Rachael was able to get me in that day as Doctor Ben put some time aside for us. Unfortunately the outcome was not what we wanted & had to say goodbye to Murphy. The staff & Ben were absolutely amazing & showed so much kindness.

A couple of months ago, our precious cat, Selina, got very sick very quickly. Local vets couldn’t work it out so sent us to GARS. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly, and emergency surgery took place a few days later. We now have our girl back, fully healed and healthy, back to her snuggly, cuddly, mischievous, loving self. We can’t thank GARS enough for saving our girl’s life. The care they gave her, and the compassion and understand they gave to me and my parents was beyond all expectations. This is a marvellous service, and we are so relieved and grateful it was available to us.
