I had unfortunately had to deal with the Royal Melbourne Hospital over the last year - I say unfortunately as I was diagnosed with Cancer - nothing against the hospital at all! The Surgeon, Dr McCormack was amazing. The staff, the nurses, the other doctors, the Stoma Nurses in particular get a massive shout out from me as they went above and beyond to help me out after my surgery. After a year of appointments and procedures, I do not have one negative thing to say about my experience in dealing with the hospital. They were kind and professional and I feel safe and trust them if I ever have to go back (which I do for the interim - but thats for followups and dont count).

Yesterday I was in the Emergency Department at Royal Melbourne Hospital, and I am beyond impressed with the exceptional care I received from the staff. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with empathy and professionalism. The nurses and doctors went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. Their expertise and swift actions made a significant difference in my experience, and I am incredibly grateful for their dedication and compassion. Thank you to nurses Shania, Junie, Josie and the doctors Melody and Will .S. who were looking after me in bed A15 yesterday. Thank you for all of your help during such a critical time, best hospital experience ever 🙂

Please help the system evolve. Money is not
necessary, especially when it comes to basic survival a world where we only repayed in kindness and not money. People are highly influenced in behaviour that I don’t hold them responsible for.

Why cant we help each other with our hidden
pure inner cores that are locked within. The surface out most layer is no true identity. Please I’m sorry for my bad deeds in life all I was in this world was not human and rejected we need harmony and peace for all. The world needs to be free of tricks and mind games and money. I don’t want money in this world. I don’t want weapons, I don’t want war, I don’t want chemicals or machines that could “interfere” I want harmony. Please help the world. I want us to all be happy.

When making a complaint about a nurses behaviour at first I felt listened to. However, after investigation it appears the nurse in question did not speak truthfully. I got a reply eventually that does not appear factually nor what can or will be done to prevent rude and rough treatment in the future. I don't appreciate being spoken to like I'm a piece of trash nor being very rough in removing cannula. I will never use this hospital again, even in an emergency. I'd rather go to the Alfred.

I’ve been in this hospital for the past 2 weeks because my dad is here, and i’ve seen mouses 🐭 in many levels! In this building and i already told the nurses about, “she said yea its everywhere“! Until today i saw 2 in the Royal Berry area and i was in shock! This raises concerns about good safety in such a critical environment. I hope the management takes immediate action to address this problem and maintain a safe and clean space for patients and visitors.

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with the Royal Melbourne Hospital emergency department, specifically the staff on duty on Monday, 17 March. I arrived at the hospital at 12:15 AM with my brother, who was experiencing severe difficulty breathing. Despite explaining to the check-in and triage nurses that his condition was worsening, they remained indifferent and dismissive.

The triage nurse repeatedly insisted that my brother’s pulse oximeter readings were “fine,” seemingly unaware of the significant difference between being unable to breathe and having difficulty breathing. It was clear that the urgency of the situation was not being recognized.

After nearly 1.5 hours of waiting, we left the hospital at 1:55 AM without even seeing a doctor. The staff's lack of urgency and care in an emergency setting is truly shocking. I fail to understand why they call it an "Emergency Department" when the staff demonstrated anything but a sense of urgency.

Thank you to the staff for their lack of attention and the complete disregard for my brother's health during a critical time. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, and I am left wondering how many others have been neglected in similar circumstances.

I’m so incredibly grateful to the team at Royal Melbourne Hospital for the care they gave my partner, Nathan, after he had a severe anaphylactic reaction and was admitted to ED then ICU. This was a really frightening experience for the both of us and the care was nothing but exceptional in both ED and ICU across all levels (from doctors to nurses to admin).

Thank you for everything you did for Nathan. We’re incredibly grateful.

The staff, particularly at the sandwich bar, are consistently rude—eye-rolling and showing clear attitude. This has happened multiple times and is completely unacceptable. Today, I mistakenly came in for a rescheduled appointment and asked for help at the front desk near the food area. An employee, I believe named Carlos, spoke to me in an unprofessional tone and seemed unwilling to assist, even though it's part of his job. Patients come to the hospital already stressed—we shouldn't have to deal with rude and unhelpful staff as well.
