Excellent hospital. Medicos are exceptional. Both Doctors and nurses. Everyone is very caring and proactive in ensuring the best outcomes for patients.

If you go to Bowral Private expect your day(s) to be punctuated by random acts of kindness. (Sorry if that sounds soppy but it’s just the way it goes there.)

They have a culture of caring, for instance getting me a cup of coffee at 2.00 AM. Then checking that I was warm enough and then putting a heated blanket on me.

It was common place that people went the extra distance. If every service provider had The Bowral Private culture, the national economy would be humming.

It really is a very good hospital where the whole apparatus is focused on client care. Their pain management strategy is absolutely first class. And the meals I had from a more than adequate selection were good. Not ok, good!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Bowral private Hospital, and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care and professionalism displayed by the entire staff. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that patient well-being is their top priority.

The hospital itself is clean, well-organized, and designed to be as comfortable as possible ✅✅

I spent 3 days in Bowral Private for a hip replacement. All of the people I dealt with, Surgeons, Anaethetists, Nurses, Students, Cleaners, catering, Pharmacy, and Admission/Discharge were fantastic. It was perfect! If I could give a rating of 10 out of 5, I would. And what was amazing is how little pain I experienced from an operation that filled me with trepidation beforehand. I was discharged after 3 days and am already walking, albeit with crutches.
But there is something wrong! One of the Nurses; a student on Placement, was working for nothing; in addition to paying for her Uni fees. How wrong and miserable is that! An apprentice carpenter, for example, gets paid. Why not a Nurse?

My mum was in Southern Highlands Private hospital recently, from what I could see as a visitor was pretty disappointing.

It was almost impossible to get through to the ward, no one answered the phone and the phone just hung up after about 7 rings. Eventually my mum was given a dedicated phone which helped.

When I was in the hospital, which was very clean, it didn't seem very conducive to healing with bells for assistance ringing incessantly.

My mum was also unhappy with issues of items she needed constantly being left out of reach.

Nurses didn't know what was happening and couldn't give any useful information. When they would call and leave a number to call back, it was impossible to get through.

I'm not sure if all private hospitals are like this in Australia. I didn't think much of this one.

I recently had surgery at the SHPH after a fall at home, then spent 9 days in the ward. I want to thank and praise ALL the staff, nursing, admin and physics and OTs for their care and skills. They were unanimously faultless and kind. And the food was way above most hospital standards.
Only criticism_ I was in 42 A and it was very noisy till quite late, being next to the nursing station and with paper thin walls! Warn the staff that often every word could be heard!
Otherwise, thank you to you all.
warmly,
Mary Jerram

I was admitted for a full knee replacement five days ago. This is a hospital I have no negative comments for. It is a relaxed, warm and welcoming place. Every department gets a five star from me. My wife has some distance to travel so I prefer she doesn't come everyday which could make my stay somewhat lonely, it isn't. The food is superb, freshly cooked by the hospitals own chefs. The menu is varied and exciting found only in quality restaurants. A big "Thank You" to all staff members I meet and to those I won't meet working in the background.

Went in for a Hernia Op. Didnt find too much to enjoy about the experience. Post Op ward head nurse was rude and arrogant. After Dr visited to advise I could go home I was 'msging' my wife to come and get me. Head nurse barges in with trainee in tow.....
"Well if you wouldn't mind putting your phone down for a minute we could remove your excess bandages. ..come on we have got all day"........she had no idea who or what I was msging about.....but it was her tone.......
This was at least 15mins after Drs visit.....and then she proceeded to allow junior to do the task, remove the canula and drip line etc, while she toddled off to do something else...
Even the trainee was a bit shocked at her language and demeanor.
There were several other isses I could write about......not what I expected for the hospitals $500 excess fee for a one night stay over.
