I would like to share my awful experience at the Frankston ASSU. I found two of the nurses to be very unprofessional in their attitude towards me during my stay. I felt they were rude and quite condescending towards me. Two in particular were not also like this with me but towards two other patients in the ward. I quote here โ€œNurses are responsible for recognizing patients' symptoms, taking measures within their scope of practice to administer medications, providing other measures for symptom alleviation, and collaborating with other professionals to optimize patients' comfort and families' understanding and adaptation.โ€

On another occasion a male nurse remarked that "I moaned and groaned during the night" - fair enough - I was in severe pain and didn't know how to sleep to handle pain and ease it. If I was moaning, why didn't he come to see what was wrong? I had only just had surgery for removal of my gall bladder that night.

Having said this there was one very caring nurse who exhibited the above, not only towards me but to the three other patients who were in the ward with me (Beds 9 - 10 - 11 - 12). Her compassion and understanding of how I was feeling was genuine, gentle and a credit to her.

I am happy to elaborate further upon contact through the email address.

Called me once, didn't leave a message, then dropped me for not picking up my phone. No email, no SMS, no voicemail, just one missed call.

Frankston hospital is a joke, the nurses are rude, not compassionate at all and don't take their role in the health and care system seriously what so ever, I called the care call number and made multiple complaints about nurses and I was moved to another hospital instead of my concerns been taken seriously.

I waited in the emergency department for 19 hours in a backless gown and told to lay on 3 blue chairs until their was a bed on the ward, then for 5 consecutive days in a row I was fasted for a surgery that did not happen for until the 6th day.

I woke to a nurse inserting a catater that I did not concent too.

Plus..

My second daughter was born at home then taken to Frankston hospital were they put the wrong named wrist band on her that stated she was born to a different woman with my same last name.

If I could, I would give this hospital minus 5 stars and complain to every health minister possible..

World Class Care!
Over the past 20 weeks Iโ€™ve overseen the support provided to my daughter who was in the care of Emely, midwife at this hospital. She provided such incredible support from 20 weeks right up to her delivery. I find this care to be so incredibly important for women and it was what really assisted my daughter in her entire process as a first time mother. and Emely formed such a safe and professional relationship that ensured my daughter felt heard through every aspect. My daughter a more anxious type had such a positive experience all because of the program that was made available to her. You should be exceptionally proud of your midwives. The entire team associated during birth was amazing. To have one midwife the entire process was so incredibly important and I hope this service continues for other women. Well done peninsula health frankston!

The staff, nurses and doctors are really good, helpful and friendly. The reason I'm giving them 1 star or I should give 0 star is for 2 reasons and they are the main reasons in any customer service. I gave them instruction in my very first obstetrics appointment that do not disclose this private health info in front of anyone else and still every time in my follow up obstetrics/midwife appointment, whoever is accompanying me, if it's a friend, family, relative, they ask me questions about my past medical history in front of those ppl. They completely breached privacy here and not only that, they do have a note on their screen in big red letters which I can read but apparently they can't. Every time you call them, there is like 50 minutes wait time on call for outpatient number. Why not put more people to help if needed as someone would be calling if they really need to, not just for fun right? I mean who would just call hospital outpatient because they are getting bored, hospital should have people to answer calls or have an online appointment system where patients can book, cancel, change appointments rather wait 50 minutes on call. I really felt like filing an official complaint about the privacy breach as that's a serious thing here in Australia, but being 7 months pregnant, it's not here to go through the stress and torture. I really wish they do not do this to anyone else as this could lend them in serious legal issues. I wish I had that money to even go legal, I would have gone legal for sure as I had a few touch situations in family due to this privacy breach. Now the people who did not know about my medical history, they all know. Unnecessary dramas and judgements you get nowadays which you totally don't deserve because of someone else's negligence.

Unfortunately Iโ€™ve never had a great experience here. Birthing my second child I was told I wasnโ€™t having her anytime soon, even though my body was wanting to push. I was then given a stretch and sweep while in labour without consent. My child was in my arms 40 minutes later.
I also have had bad experience after bad experience in emergency. My most recent experience I was assigned a bed 4 hours in but forgotten about and left in the waiting room. I then saw 4 doctors, all who told me very different things. And never received a Follow up call about any of the things they referred me for. Go somewhere else.
