I rate this facility 5 star, because I am a regular patient in Maleny medical centre for the last 3 years..

I love this facility because of Dr Kumar Pillai. I just wanted to share a wonderful experience with him to everyone. I had a back pain after a work injury since 2019. I was treated by GPs and 2 different neuro surgeons and one pain specialist for nearly 2 years. They did 3 MRI scans, 2 bone scans and many more investigations and treatments which even included 2 RFNs, over the last 21 months and none of them could identify what is my diagnosis or could relieve my pain. They all gave me pain relief instead of finding and treating the real problem. The pain was impacted in all the way to my normal life and career. I lost all my trust and hope in the medical industry, even though I work in this same sector. I decided to give up and to stop all my treatments when my neurosurgeon told me that there is nothing more to do for me.

After 22 months, one of the nights, I was struggling to get some sleep at 3am, due to pain. I realised that I can’t work next day and wanted to take a sick leave, I remembered about Dr Pillai, who my friend recommended to me long time ago and just didn’t give much importance because I didn’t want to travel all the way from Caloundra to Maleny. I took an appointment at the same time with HotDoc and saw him the next day. What I liked in him that he listened to the patient without any pre assumptions. He located the exact place where I had the pain , which none of my other specialists even tried to do . He asked me to do an ultrasound Scan of the same place which revealed that there was a tendon tear, happened long time ago. All the treatments and physio exercises what I was getting with the wrong diagnosis, was not letting the tendon tear even to heal naturally.

Any way, once when Dr. Pillai diagnosed my real problem, healing was very quick. He referred me to a different physiotherapist and gave me some medication , of course not pain killers.πŸ˜„ I was back to my normal life in 3 months. For all these I am really grateful and thankful to Dr Pillai. Since then I never had any issues to travel to Maleny to consult with Dr Pillai. I realised that travelling up to Maleny is worthwhile than loosing my whole 2 years from my life.

And it is so sad to hear that Dr Pillai is leaving from Maleny medical centre. It will be big loss for all of us. All the best to you Dr Pillai, if that makes your life happy. You will be a blessed doctor wherever you go and the patients who are coming to you will be the luckiest. Always our love and prayers will be there with you..😍
Even though you go to Brisbane, for the unsolved cases like this, we will definitely find where you are and come there to disturb you again πŸ˜€ For that reason I don’t mind driving up to Brisbane πŸ˜€

Doctor did not listen to what I was saying or allow me to finish describing my symptoms. She then prescribed me medication with zero instructions on how or when to use it (e.g. 2 types of inhalers, when I've never used an inhaler before). Sent me for a chest x-ray and wrote 'dry cough' on the referral after I'd repeatedly explained that I'm coughing up pleghm. Sent me to the attached chemist for a covid test, when they have none in stock (surely the doctor has some?). Said to me "have you lost weight since being sick, or are you always like this?". Like what? She also decided to charge me $90 for an appointment that lasted less than 5 minutes, when I have a Healthcare card and am eligible for bulk billing.

Hi Everyone, Doctors, Nurses and Receptionists,

THANK YOU MALENY MEDICAL CENTRE.

Thanks to the wonderful reception team who sometimes suggest solutions I haven't thought of.

Thanks to the doctors who seem to have incredible skills.

To put that into context yesterday it was very painful to walk .
After the Easter 4 day break podiatrists were booked out.

Jo came up with an idea to get me in at the very end of the day with Dr. Seeha.
I was expecting a decision to whether or not to be prescribed anti biotics. It wasn't needed. He got me up on the bed and scalpel in hand physically addressed the problem...just like Dr Phipps ( who wasn't there that day) has done in the past.
Suddenly I could walk pain free ......blissful.

Not many doctors have those skills.
In years past i went to another surgery in town where I was advised a cream. It was ineffective.
So thank you so much for having those Country Doc skills .
And thanks to Jo, who gets a mention this time, but all the other receptionists have a great manner and good, kind communication skills too.
Sometimes I have seen the nursing team , Jade, Vicky and Jane....and they are brilliant .. ..in my opinion the staff at the Maleny medical centre all go above and beyond the normal call of duty.
Thank you all so much

No respect for patient's time or adherence to appointment times. Still waiting 4.5 hours later for my 8:15am appointment call. Called in twice to be told "You're next, just keep waiting..."

I have found this medical practice gives excellent service both the doctors and the reception staff. My doctor, Dr Kumar Pillai MB BS DCH, saved my life when he thoroughly investigated a symptom that is not usually a problem. I had an aneurysm which was imminently in danger of bursting. That was nearly a year ago and he has been very helpful with my recovery after open heart surgery as well. Dr Pillai is a little unusual as he listens to and respects my opinion..After a deeply disappointing experience with a male doctor when I was a young woman, I retained a distrust of the medical profession. Consequently, I like to take responsibility for my health and tend to question my medical providers. Dr Pillai never dismisses my views off hand, and always takes the time to explain the medical path he advises. Highly recommended.

Thank u to both jo and sue, receptionists at melaney medical centre. They both went beyond the call of duty to help my partner and myself. We r holiday makers in the showgrounds when I found I could not walk anywhere, but both those ladies made it possible for me to get from medical centre to xray/scan clinic. Jo also loaned me her father's wheelchair so I could move around a bit more easily. So grateful to u both. Congratulations to melaney medical
Clinic for being astute enough to employ such compassionate people.
