Not even deserving of one star.
I would strongly advise AGAINST seeking treatment at Logan Central Addiction and Mental Health Centre, especially for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). My experience with this facility has been profoundly disappointing and aligns with broader systemic issues within Australia’s mental health services.
I attended three sessions with Abraham, during which I consistently emphasized the urgent need for a psychiatric review of my diagnosis and medication—a necessity I had been awaiting for over three years. Each time, I was reassured that this was being addressed. However, I received no tangible assistance and had to independently seek a new General Practitioner.
During my third session, Abraham informed me that my next appointment would include both him and a clinical psychiatrist, offering hope that my concerns were finally being acknowledged. Yet, on the day of the scheduled appointment, I received a call postponing it to the following day. Subsequently, I was contacted by Maria, a registered nurse, who informed me that Abraham would not be returning. Instead, I was offered a final session with her—a professional unfamiliar with my case and unable to facilitate the psychiatric care I had been seeking.
This experience left me devastated and underscored the systemic failures within Australia’s mental health system. Research indicates that individuals with BPD often face significant challenges and discrimination when attempting to access appropriate care. Moreover, the abrupt termination of therapeutic relationships without proper transition plans can be considered patient abandonment, a practice that is both unethical and harmful.
Furthermore, the broader inadequacies of community-based mental health services in Australia contribute to such detrimental experiences. The lack of sufficient support systems often leaves consumers unable to live independently in the community, exacerbating their mental health challenges.
My experience with Logan Central Addiction and Mental Health Centre reflects these systemic issues. The lack of continuity in care, unfulfilled promises, and abrupt termination of services have not only hindered my progress but have also deepened my mistrust in the mental health care system.
If you are seeking consistent and compassionate mental health support, I strongly recommend exploring alternative options.
