Recently I was discharged from Pindara Private Hospital following hip surgery and taken to Southport Private Rehab Hospital. It was a busy Saturday morning just prior to lunch. From the smooth admission via Ambulance I never looked back. My room was large,bright and cheerful with plenty of activity happening if I left the door open.
Everything pertinent to my stay had been pre arranged and all was checked in order to move forward.
Rehab was ordered daily with great physiotherapists and support therapists. If you didn’t go they came to check why!
Dr Wong was a daily visitor to check on everything, always with a smile.
His nurses and staff were excellent. Any ‘buz’ was attended to promptly.
Food was varied with tremendous staff from daily ordering, delivery and presentation. Nothing was overlooked.
Altogether it was a great rehab centre for ‘InPatients’.
I followed up with an ‘Out Patients’ schedule attending twice weekly.
This was also second to none! Again, if I was unsure of anything or had questions all I had to do was ask!
Dr Wong was again, always available and never, was a question too much.

At the end of therapy I was like a new woman.
Self sufficient, strong and confident in my repaired body. Thank you Dr Wong and all staff associated with my terrific progress and healing.

If you value your mental health avoid this facility at all cost! I value and cherish mine as it can at times be fragile and I would never ever trust these money vampires with anything so valuable again. They are a business, they don't care about your mind, only your pocket. Staff don't communicate with each other. There's discrimination that occurs there in my opinion, and most staff seem to be under too much pressure from management to care for patients. Therefore staff are stressed and don't communicate, you fill out forms and staff dont follow them so why bother filling out forms? They keep closing wards and moving patients due to staffing costs. How are you supposed to get stable if you're moving rooms every 2 3 days because you don't have enough patients to keep ward 3 and 4 open so you move patients so that you don't have to have 2 wards fully staffed. What an absolute debabacle, I felt the place was run by John Cleese. This was almost messier than the divorce I was seeking mental respite from.

I went to a psychiatrist and I don't even know if he's good because I paid 550 just for him to tell me to do the weaning, but the receptionist treated me like garbage. She didn't know how to use the card machine, because I pay in debits with the cell phone app, and she wanted my physical card number, I never saw that, so she used the machine and managed to get through. And then she was waiting to reschedule the appointment and you know what she does? She gave me a card with the date and time and didn't ask if I could, I've never seen that in my life. I said but I can't on that day you didn't even ask me if I could, then she was already rude and told me the doctor asked for that day and it's the only time, so I said calm down because she was upset, I'm patient, I have a life out here so you need to ask if I can on the day and at the time you want to make an appointment. Then I said calm down, calm down then she threw it on me saying that she was going to expel me from the office since she was treating me badly. She works in a clinic for people with depression, anxiety and still treats a patient that way? I left the office worse than I entered. Ramsay Clinic.

I recently had a bilateral knees replacement at Pindara and was transferred to Southport after 5 days.
I have nothing but the highest praise for this wonderful team. With their care and help, I was able to leave after 9 days, fully mobile
Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff from janitorial to the doctors were efficient, friendly and genuinely caring.
It was like being part of a big family.
Their chef is excellent

If your looking to never see anybody or receive a phone call back, and be charged over 800 twice for consultation regarding the same issue, then this is the place for you.

Seems lacking good communication between staff. I am only 4 days here now and number of mistakes already done. I’ll write full in a patient survey and another review. I better stay at home and have help there.

I am happy get out of this hospital. Obviously no proper communication. At 6am today nurse told me to have breakfast at the club, ok, i showered. At 6:30 another male nurse said i have to eat downstairs at the club. What time that be.? They’ll get you 7am. At 8:15 i was hungry no breakfast and a physio therapist or OT said, sorry Zita it’s not for you means i don’t have breakfast at the club, it’s a mistake. At 8:30 another lady came, shall I get you breakfast? I think you have not eaten yet. Oh my gosh. Not serious of how they care but serious to ask us to bring our card and settle our finances.
Worst was last year after my knee teplacement in their sister hospital where the nurse forgot to give me my 45 days and 15 days discharge meds. Lucky nothing serious happened. It’s dangerous…..

My 86yo dad had a stroke, he came into the rehab hospital unable to move and barely spoke. My dad also has dementia and could not communicate well, but they found ways to engage with him and got him to do things himself. Thanks to the incredible team of nurses, physios, OT, speech pathologist and Dr my dad will be leaving nearly like his old self. Everyone was so accommodating, caring and above all happy. Cannot thank them enough for all that they’ve done.

These people save lives: from the psychiatrists & psychologists to the nurses & exercise physiologist. Everyone is extremely kind & genuine. Dr AJ is the best. I love that they're don't focus on a medicated model primarily but provide social, emotional support + education, group therapy, art, exercise & hydrotherapy. They listen & give you the space to be yourself & be heard. Excellent facility. If I could make 1 recommendation, it would be more wholegrains over refined bread/crackers/rice. Anyone who goes for mental health rehab is feeling lousy & the weight of the world. But you learn real skills that serve you for the rest of your life if you're willing to apply yourself to the process.
