Ok I admit I’m the asshole who believed what I was once told… that if your vet wants to charge you $$$ for meds, just get a prescription and take it to your local compounding pharmacy for cheap

Oh, how wrong I was…

I brought along a simple prescription here for an EXTREMELY COMMON pain medicine used for muscular and arthritis pain for both humans and animals, just in a small dose mixed with saline for my poor dog who’d just torn his “doggy ACL”. I was told by the one and only staff member in the store that it would a) cost “more than the vet would have charged”, and b) take TWO DAYS to fill.

Pharmacist then told me to go back to the vet and just buy it from them.

I felt like the hidden camera crew would surely jump out at me any second, catching me in the joke of the worst customer service ever…. But nope, I just walked out again and drove the 35 mins back home, both of us (dog and me) with our tails between our legs.

Now I will make an appt to go back to the vet (another 20 mins in the other direction), pay $80 for the consult and another $60 or so for the meds.

This is the worst compounding pharmacy experience I’ve ever, ever experienced. Dude made me feel like I was asking him to suspend half the periodic table in the most volatile substrate ever to have existed.

If anyone can recommend to me a compounding pharmacy that doesn’t feel like being on the chilly end of purgatory, I’d be grateful!

Great service and the Pharmacist/Owner Rema is just absolutely lovely and so very helpful!!
Super conveniently located on main road in Newmarket & they compete soooo well price-wise with the big warehouse pharmacies…. But unlike the giant pharmacies, they provide personalised one-on-one care for customers so you don’t feel looked over like I usually do in the bigger chemists!!
Would definitely recommend this pharmacy to everyone 😍
