I want to say a huge thank you to the staff, particularly to my psychiatrist Dr Ravindran who truly cares about other people and truly wants to help. And also to the nurses, Sharon, Maggie, Praji, Alina, Preetha (so sorry if i am not spelling it right!!), Trish, Sachiko and Reina (and many others!!), all the reception girls and the people in the kitchen for always being so kind to us, and Hannah the PT who did the pilates classes. I feel so lucky i was able to be looked after by these people 🫶🏻

As a privately owned facility, Toowong Private Hospital offers an holistic, therapeutic approach to healing.
As a mental health clinician myself, I can honestly say Toowong Private is the only private mental health facility on the north side of Brisbane that prioritises ‘Healthcare’ over ‘Wealthcare’.
From clinician to patient is a daunting experience, however one I can honestly say has been eye opening and life changing in many ways.
Whilst I have now surrendered my nursing registration, due to losing faith in the healthcare system and my employer of 29 years, the experience as an inpatient at Toowong Private Hospital has restored my faith in a system that is essentially failing to provide a safe, non-judgmental, non-punitive, therapeutic environment for those trying to heal from trauma/ mental illness.
For anyone trying to heal from trauma and/or mental health illness, Toowong Private Hospital stands out as being in a
league of its own.

The building is old - plumbing, electricity etc requires more than a single 'band aid' maintenance person to be employed. Cleaning staff, kitchen staff, reception staff, majority of nurses absolutely fantastic with constant care and compassion. So much appreciated. One wonders where the top level private health $$$ is going as no building facility upgrades or complete repairs carried out successfully for at least 3 years.

This hospital makes you feel worse, the psychiatrists are completely unhelpful and make your exisiting problem seem minimal the the new ones they’ve created. The nursing staff have been amazing, the psychiatrists not so much. Never have I felt so I unhelped. Apparently the trauma I suffered as a child is my fault and I just have to live with it. Don’t go to this hospital. They take your medication and make you withdraw cold turkey, and pump you full of Valium instead, leaving you to suffer all the withdrawal symptoms. The public health system is by far better than this place.

A great hospital if you want to be yelled at, intentionally triggered, bullied, denied medication and have your basic care needs neglected by nurses.

Nurse Diana:
- refused to bring a patient meds (some of which can have dangerous side effects if stopped suddenly)
- deliberately and unnecessarily forced said patient into a situation that triggered a full blown PTSD attack
- yelled at the patient whilst they were in the middle of said panic attack

Nurse Kevin has:
- yelled at a patient for not notifying him directly about an issue (he was on break and unavailable and the issue was raised with other nurses who were available)
- yelled at that same patient again while attempting to apologise (which he only did because he was directed to by his supervisor)
- neglect a patient who require physical assistance moving about the hospital which resulted in two missed meals and a missed treatment session as the patient was unable to get to those parts of the hospital by themselves
- seen a patient who is a selfharm and suicide risk clearly in distress and crying during checks and said/did nothing and just walked away

Other TPH nurses:
- bully and deliberately make life difficult for patients they they don't like
- act put out and deliberately make patients feel bad/like they're a burden when basic requests for assistance or care are made
- continuously misgender and act rude and dismissive regarding patient's gender identities even when they're aware of how badly this can affect the mental health of patients

For a hospital who's website says they "put people first" and that "Every detail at TPH has been considered to ensure patient feel safe, comfortable and experience a positive treatment environment" they sure like to allow their nurses to neglect, belittle and generally treat patients like garbage.

The Toowong Private hospital staff are amazing.
I would like to thank all of them for their professional support during my time at the hospital.
My stay at the hospital was a much needed life changing experience for me.
I recommend the Toowong Private Hospital to anyone needing to pull their lives back on track holistically.
My mental and physical health has improved greatly.
The Toowong Hospital operates at a very high standard.

Can I give this place zero stars? Because I would if I could!

Out dated bathing and toilet facilities that wouldn't look out of place in a public playground from the 60's, total hospital needs a renovation!

Bedrooms designed for 1 person that have been separated by shower rails/sheets for privacy, yet some of the beds by the door lack any privacy screens. No TVs in rooms. Well below expected beds for a private hospital. Bedside cabinets that don't lock, so don't bring anything valuable.

Average meals, sometimes good. Only expect cereal or toast on weekdays, you get "treated" to bacon at the weekends 😂

I guess the staff were ok, but I'm basing this on the facilities. Some staff need to realise this is a mental health facility and respond to patients in the manner that they've been trained in.

All from a supposed "Private Hospital". I'd never set foot in there again, luckily my stay was cut short due to a physical injury after 2 days.

It's only my opinion but if I was offered an admission to TPH I'd run a mile! 🏃🏻‍♂️

I am ever so thankful to Toowong Private Hospital and their Drs, CEO & staff for bringing my son back to me. He was so severely ill when they took him in and I had very little hope for his future. After he was finally diagnosed correctly by Tom & Lisa, for the first time in over 2 years with many other drs and hospitals unable to achieve this, he is now living a productive and full life. Thank you, thank you, thank you. xx
