It was ok for the price, I only paid $80 so I really wasn’t expecting a lot.
I was upgraded when I arrived, room was nice, pretty clean, could do with a sweep under the cupboards. The bathroom was dated but clean.

Definitely has permanent residents living there but all in all was fine for the night.

Stayed here New Years Eve $170/night

👍 Pros-
- cold air conditioning
- large room
- very pet friendly
- free cereal and toast
- clean swimming pool
- off street parking for an extra tall vehicle
- great powerful shower.

👎 Cons -
- no sound proofing, so much road noise and listening to the neighbours talking
- very dated room
- smashed windows in bathroom
- curtain didn’t fully cover the window so the outside bright light shone through all night
- the price for stay isn’t worth it.

Would not recommend staying here. They obviously have permanent residents which are very noisy & don’t care about others. We had just driven a long way & needed a good sleep before the next days travel. We also had a puppy & we were placed upstairs which meant we had to keep taking her downstairs all the time. Between the car doing burnouts at some stupid hour, the permanent resident with her toddler screaming during the night & people running past on the balcony very late, my sleep was at a bare minimum & for the price we paid, I would expect a little better then what we got. Beds were very hard but were clean. Only 1 blanket in room for 2 beds though. Overall a 1 star & definitely won’t be back.

Big sign out the front advertising $99 a night, does not state conditions apply….charged almost $270 for 2 nights.
Sign also states “free breakfast” which i assume would be cereal, milk, bread to toast, butter and jam. Nothing was offered.
The pool was out of order as it was a disgusting cloudy colour.
This morning, the manager barged into our room, WITHOUT KNOCKING OR YELLING OUT, thus catching myself and my husband in a very compromising act!!!
Manager then went off because my husbands shoe left a “mud mark” outside at the entrance to our room, no mud was walked into our room!
Then manager told us the concreted path running along the front of the units was being painted so he suggested that we don’t leave or enter our unit for around 3 hours!!
And to top it off, the dog in the room next door goes off every time the guy leaves the room!!
UPDATE!!!
Mate the painters told us the paint was right to walk on, and we find it VERY HARD TO BELIEVE that it’s going to cost you $300 to paint an area of less than a metre square!!! If that is what you have been quoted to touch up the area, you need to find yourself a different painter or get a brush and do it yourself!!! Did you expect us to stay in our room for 3 hours or go for a walk? We paid for 2 nights so expected to have access to our room for the whole time!!
And how often do you enter rooms that you know are booked for 2 nights, without at least KNOCKING!!!

Pretty bad, and I’ve stayed in a few motels. Their only redeeming quality is that they are pet friendly. Reception was unenthusiastic. Sheets had marks. Bathroom had broken windows. Everything looked old and dated. Cheapest of cheap, but the room still cost $170 a night.

A bit of wear and tear is fine, but the owners and staff clearly don’t give a damn about a little hospitality and attention to detail.

Beware of hidden costs! Note: Zeds Motel's is Tropical Gateway Motor Inn. Highly recommend booking the 'free cancellation' option for this property after I made a reservation for next month (two separate nights, an overnighter for my trip from NQ to and from Brisbane with my pet) for a pet-friendly room, only to then be contacted by the property telling me it was an additional $20 charge to have my pet in the pet-friendly room. Ridiculous. I am already charged a higher rate for a pet-friendly room compared to your other available rooms, then you contact me after the booking is made to try charge an additional $20 - double dipping at its' finest. When I queried, no answer why I was being charged extra twice. I cancelled all my bookings there.

The room we were given the carpet smelt really bad, paint peeling off the ceiling, previous animal hair on the black sachets on the beds. We asked to be moved to a renovated room but unfortunately none were available. The gentleman at the reception gave us a refund without hesitation when we advised we couldn’t stay with our little kids due to the smell being so bad so we are grateful for that however the rooms are in desperate need of a reno.

If I could give zero star rating, I would've!
First, they decided to charge us $20 for a dog fee, even though I wasn't told over the phone when I booked the room.
Second, there were other guests making noise most of the night, mainly permanent residents, which is sometimes the way with places like this.
Lastly, we were put upstairs with a 12-year-old dog, and when I mentioned it, they didn't even care
Not impressed!
So, I'll never be back!
