Heartfelt thanks to the team at Dove, who looked after my Dad Alan last week. We found everyone to be kind, considerate and compassionate, at a very difficult time for our family. Let’s not forget that the team at Dove constantly deal with very difficult and stressful situations, as families are coming to terms with the harsh reality of the loss of a loved one. My mum was an inpatient at Dove for about 4 weeks and during that time mum and our family had a mixed experience. The majority of staff are very accommodating, caring and good at their jobs (especially Kym and Marilyn) but as a previous reviewer has noted there are some who bring the service down. Some nurses abruptly refused to provide essential care that other nurses at the facility were willing and qualified to provide. At times mum was provided inaccurate doses of medication or the incorrect medication, and if my mum's cognitive ability had diminished, she would have been at risk of consuming these mistakes. After about four weeks there, because mum 'hadn't deteriorated fast enough' the staff forced mum to leave. As a family we were distraught and disagreed with this move, because she was in need of the support only a palliative care facility like Dove could provide. She was transferred to an aged care facility and, as our family expected and expressed to the Dove team before the transfer, mum passed away two weeks later - and those last two weeks were harder for mum and our family than it should have been because she needed palliative care not an aged care facility.

My mum passed away at Dove. Right from the first moment I walked through the doors I was met with beautiful kind and empathetic people that looked after mum & supported me through this experience in a wonderful place with beautiful gardens. The more you looked the more interesting it was. I’m forever grateful to all of the nurses & doctors who gave direct answers & clarity. Mum was kept comfortable from the moment she arrived, and she passed away peacefully with no pain

Unfortunately it only takes one or two horrendous nurses in there that turn this into a horrible experience. Especially while you know you're about to lose someone you couldn't imagine living life without.
It takes it away from the beautiful nurses and Doctors because there were amazing ones. Some nurses shouldn't be allowed to work there!
We will never forget this experience for many reasons 💔

I can not thank all the staff at Dove House enough. They gave my wife Marlene the most devoted and respectful care possible.
