Recently moved to the area I made an appointment with Dr James Kennedy, After been greeted by a friendly medical receptionist in very classy waiting area I only waited less than a couple of minutes after arriving before being called up.
Dr James was friendly, attentive & thorough.
I will definitely be returning when I need to.
Thankyou

I am reluctant to give negative reviews, especially as I had adopted this as my regular GP clinic after having had positive experiences around mental health care with some doctors that are now no longer available or have long wait lists.

Whilst the doctor I saw was friendly enough, I was rushed through a quick questionnaire, and my questions were quickly dismissed and hand-balled. I’d expect this from a bulk-billing clinic, but I had chosen to pay higher fees in the hope of receiving more comprehensive care.

I was charged for a 30 minute consult (which I am happy to pay for if that’s the service received), but the consult was 10 minutes and charged at a premium simply because it was for “mental health.”

This does not seem very fair and places yet another barrier in accessing already difficult-to-access mental health care.

Unfortunately, I will now be seeking a new GP practice, but I do hope the feedback I’ve provided will perhaps help improve their practice for future patients seeking mental health support.

The clinic was pleasant -- lots of natural light and use of lots of wood made the place have a warmer atmosphere instead of the white hospital vibes. Holly, the receptionist, greeted me cheerfully upon arriving. Wait time was not too long. Dr. Jon was very friendly and spoke to me in a way that made me comfortable. He explained things well.

We love the service. Our appointment was scheduled for 10.30am however we arrived earlier than the scheduled time. We didn’t sit for long and Dr called us in for consultation. Highly recommend Next Practice West End for fast and reliable service.

I will be finding a new GP practice after 2 negative experiences at Next West End.

The first was that I had some tests done before travelling overseas. I discussed with the Doctor that I was leaving very soon and how long I would be away for. While away I received a message to say my results were ready so made a phone appointment to receive the results. I was then told I could not receive results while overseas- this should have been discussed at the time of the appointment and ordering of the tests! I had clearly discussed that I would be away. The practice refused to send the results on to a doctor in the country I was located and would give me no indication of if the results were normal. This caused me a huge amount of distress and made it difficult to decide if I needed to travel back to Australia early. The staff were absolutely ruthless dealing with me on the phone too.

The second issue is that I needed to cancel an appointment last minute today, as my specialist requested me to attend a last minute appointment with them around the same time. Next informed me there would be a $50 cancellation fee payable for late cancellation. Suffice to say I will not be coming back.

Review

I’ve had great experiences with doctors here in the past but both have now left. I got an IUD inserted the other day and was given NO options for pain control before the procedure, not even suggested taking Panadol or anything beforehand. The procedure was incredibly painful. After everything was complete, I asked about whether they were introducing the green whistle for it as they had in Melbourne and the doctor said, “oh we do that here, it’s an option, it’s just a lot more work and you’d need to have someone here to take you home”. I would’ve loved to know that was an option and I DID have someone to take me home anyway because google told me it’s smart not to drive after the procedure (doctor also didn’t say this). It baffles me that the doctor decided to just not give me the option because it was “a lot more work”. I then informed him I had taken a pain killer beforehand (thanks to google) and showed him which one to which he said, “oh yeah we normally suggest that anyway”. Why wasn’t it suggested to me? Why was I not offered options and given suggestions that patients are “usually” given and suggested? Had I known about the green whistle, I would’ve taken it. I have a lot of medical anxiety anyway and was very nervous about this procedure and this has unfortunately confirmed my anxiety. Patients shouldn’t have to know what to ask for in order to get very necessary information and options.

I’ve been going to this practice for 3 years now and continue even though I’ve left the surrounding area. The GPs are excellent, especially Dr Jacinta and Dr Muhammed. I can often get an appointment the next day with a doctor and the reception staff and nurses are always very friendly and helpful.

First, they wanted to charge me more than what was on their website, and when I complained, they immediately backed down. Then they said they had made a claim with Medicare, and I don't have to do anything about it. After more than a week, I didn't get any reimbursement. I called them, and they sent me the invoice, and I made a claim myself.
I feel like they only want the money. It's OK. But even if you're only interested in the money, then you should consider your patients psychology. This way you can make more money!
I'm not going back.
