This hospital is the filthiest hospital sick people are always getting bugs from the nurses , the cleaners skip rooms and clean certain patients room.
The cafe at the hospital is atrocious there is always flies trapped in with the food. Expensive too 🤮
The nurses are very cocky they talk cheeky when no one's around.
Long hours waiting in emergency while they stand around talking taking their own sweet time.
Not enough beds they always wanna make ya go so they can move onto the next person even if you're not ok they will still discharge you regardless
Very disgusting this hospital I've been up there all year last year and I'll I've heard from people is that they caught something a bug that's going around in the hospital right now

I totally understand that the hospital is very busy and unexpected things need to be addressed immediately. But a person should not expected to sit and wait for 11 hours to be slotted in to have surgery and not be approached at all, to let him know what was happening, except when they are all preparing to call it a day and say come back tomorrow. Today he has waited 10.5 hours , they are packing up, for the past 2 hours,, he has been the only person sitting in waiting room, not one staff member has spoken to him. Both these days he has sat there in pain because he is not allowed to take any medication. I am not upset about his not been operated on, but to know he has sat there for 2 days in a row and was ignored totally. Where is the proactive care. Now he refuses to go tomorrow, downside to this is blood poisoning, if it goes pear shaped. After waiting he approached them, oh they apologised only when he approached them.
Ps.. He lives out of town.

Horrible!!!! We’re leaving Townsville for this reason!
I brought my 10 month old who had a really bad fall and could have potentially had damaged nerves and they took us for a joke!
We waited for an hour just to be put in a room and the sad part was it wasn’t busy at all there was 3 kids all together plus my baby.
Only two nurses were nice and the doctor was just horrible she was so rude and I just couldn’t understand how she was taking more than 5 hours to see us when there is just 4 of us there.
I tried speaking to her but she was super rude and kept saying she’s taking bloods! She was taking bloods for more than 5 hours I don’t know if she was taking bloods from every person in Townsville but she sure wasn’t doing anything where we were.
Just horrible experience and it’s not the first time I don’t usually leave reviews but Townsville is just horrible.

Nursing staff absolutely fantastic. From ED to palliative care. The professionalism and compassion they showed to myself and family during an extremely stressful time was greatly appreciated.

As a veteran, I expected a standard of care that was not met during my experience, which I find deeply concerning and unacceptable.

Upon my arrival at approximately midnight on 31 October, I had been traveling for four days with little to no sleep. Unfortunately, my situation was exacerbated by being subjected to ongoing interviews by hospital staff throughout the day without any opportunity for rest. This lack of consideration for my physical and mental state only added to my distress.

Moreover, I was left in a state of discomfort due to not having a change of clothes, which included urine-soaked underwear and crusty socks from my extended travel. Additionally, I was not provided with my life-saving blood pressure medication during this critical time, which further jeopardized my health. This neglect not only affected my dignity but also my overall well-being during a time when I was already vulnerable.

Hospital staff refused to acknowledge I have a day partner and this was very distressing.

I believe that the treatment I received does not reflect the standards of care expected from healthcare professionals, particularly towards veterans like myself. I am requesting a formal investigation into this matter and would appreciate a response outlining the steps that will be taken to address these issues.

After an accident where a stolen car TBoned my wife's car, she was transported to TUH by ambulance, in the ED she the treatment she received was top class, later in the day she was transferred to the Cardiac ward where the care for her injuries were addressed. For the 7 days she was in the ward all staff were very professional and treated my wife with the car and dignity she deserves. Nothing was to hard for the nurses, they were always friendly and yet very professional in their work. I have nothing but praise for the treatment and the service she received, this includes the doctors, physios, nursing staff, kitchen hands, cleaners and the volunteers.
Thankyou all for being their for my wife.

Whilst parking can be limited (I.e. you might have to walk a small distance), you're received well, and there's volunteers willing to help find your destination.
The staff I've dealt with have shown empathy and compassion. Being a public service, they are usually very busy, so don't forget to take your patience!

My 14 y.o. step daughter was taken here for 2 hours of observation after an allergic reaction to asprin. A mobidly obese elderly lady hovered around us making shure she had all our details correct for billing. We were informed that the stay in hospital would cost around Three thousand dollars as my step daughter has no Medicare or insurance. WE WERE IN SHOCK! As we already paid 600 dollars at a private hospital who were reluctant to observe her for the 2 hours after adrenaline. After 2 months we recieved the bill demanding thousands of dollars and only hours to pay it!!! I have no words to describe my disgust for Townsville hospital. A little girl who after 13 years is finally united with her only parent was denied a holiday with mum thanks to townsville hospital!!!!!
