Really disappointed with the poor abrasive customer service I received at the Douglas clinic today from Dr Andrew Coker. I attended today to discuss a possible serious medical condition. I have been a patient since the clinic opened. When I mentioned having seen another clinic for female matters, he seemed to take offence stating maybe I should go to the other doctor for assistance, he repeated this 3 times. Just rude, I left in tears feeling my health was of no concern to this doctor. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I am really disappointed with my recent appointment with Dr Andrew Coker.
I have been seeing Dr Melody for a couple of years and she has always been so brilliant. I was upset that she was leaving.
I went to see Dr Coker for a repeat prescription, a medication I have been taking for around 2 years now.
I was prescribed 200mcg instead of my usual 25mcg. Luckily I realised before ingesting these- something that could have been deadly. I had unfortunately opened the box.
I spoke to the Docs and managed to get a new script sent through and said how I don't think it fair that I pay another $30 for these when I have just paid $30 for the incorrect dosage. The reception said this is nothing to do with them and I had to speak with the chemist about this. I spoke to the chemist and they were very lovely, but unfortunately could not help me either, they said they would speak to the owners of the doctors but I am yet to hear back a week later.
If I had ingested those tablets without noticing the dosage, this could be a very different situation. I am very upset about this and it is worrying that something like this can happen.

I have been a patient at this clinic for over three years and have always been satisfied with the care provided by Dr. Edel, Dr. Melody, and recently Dr. Mynt. However, my recent experience with Dr. Andrew Coker was profoundly disappointing.

I had an appointment at 9:12 am to discuss my pelvic ultrasound results. Dr. Mynt was away, and Dr. Edel was unavailable, so I booked with Dr. Coker, whom I had never seen before. He was dismissive and late (my appointment started at 9:34 am). He rudely informed me that he would not discuss any follow-up of my results (as I am with another), interrupting me repeatedly, I only wanted to know my results as I have a chronic conditions for months and I just need to know if something was found on my ultrasound.

When I tried to explain that he should not treat patients so rudely, he became defensive and asked me to leave. As a senior lecturer in public health, I understand the importance of respectful treatment in the patient-doctor relationship. His lack of manners, empathy, and intimidating behavior is unacceptable, especially for a patient in pain seeking answers. I recommend that no one be attended by this doctor.

Took my son in to see Dr Coker a while back about a chest cough he had had for going on 2 months, I was told it was “because he attended daycare” and did not do any tests or anything. Would never go back to him. Took him to see Dr Soe whom at the time was his normal Dr and treated him for Bronchitis. Dr Soe was always very helpful. I have now changed Drs and have had much more success, my son had Contracted Bacterial Bronchitis and had to be treated with stronger antibiotics than normal and his cough went away. Definitely was not just “because he went to daycare” very disappointing.

5-11-24 I had a follow up visit with Dr. Coker because Dr. Mint was not available.
My 11am appointment was late , the office was hot/stuffy and after less than 10min consult the receptionist charged me $135, that the doctor billed it as a long consult. I refused to pay $135 and after 5mins was advised that the practice manager had reviewed it to $85 ( same as last visit.) She said that the doctor has discretion to bill it as a long consult (regardless if its a 5min consult). I insisted that patients need to be informed, its unethical!

Update 11/11/24 I went to Healthlink FMC, and received better service for much less.

NOT going back to Douglas FMC.

Had an appointment with Dr Coker earlier this year, was a complete waste of time. At the commencement of the consultation, I was basically told that he was too busy and had places to be. Couldn’t wait to get me out the door.

Other reviews on here suggest I’m not the only one that’s had this experience.

It’s worth noting that the reception staff seemed friendly and efficient.

Ending up finding another GP in Townsville who resolved my issues in a timely manner.

I have been coming to this medical centre for years since moving to Townsville and typically have never had any problems. I had an appointment with Dr Dumanhung who seemed more preoccupied at the fact that the online appointment I had booked was not long enough. Dr Dumanhung made me feel uncomfortable and made a point of saying to the receptionist over the phone in front of me that she would be running behind and then proceeded to tell me “I hope you have the name of the psychologist your wanting to see” in a gruff manner. I proceeded to tell Dr Dumanhung that I will rebook with somebody else as I now felt uncomfortable. Dr then proceeded to say “so you’re not going to continue with this then? That’s fine” and called for her next patient before I even made it to the reception desk.

I would not recommend seeing dr Dumanhung if your suffering from any form of mental illness or needing any form of psychological care.
