I see a lot of bad reviews for this place but during my admission, I was cared for, taught many skills, fed and learnt routine. My doctor is still there for me who I see regularly who works with me and listens. The nurses are incredible for the things they have to deal with on a daily basis. Mental health crisis with aggression, they still help and treat everyone in the same manner, with compassion and kindness. I will certainly be going back to do more of their programs. It is a good facility. To the negative reviews, id take them with a grain of salt. Hutt people hurt people and wait times can be a very long time but that's because they are a great facility and have so many patients at a given time.

The 3 week EMDR trauma program is very comprehensive and well run. I had reservations around whether or not I wanted to come into hospital at all as this was my first mental health admission, however I felt at ease after a day or so. The staff running the program were skilled, experienced, professional and empathetic. The nurses were supportive. Everyone from cleaners to receptionists to students etc.. Were very friendly. Really enjoyed using the art room, and the opportunity for some respite from the hectic pace/stresses of life. Enjoyed the local area during leave. Would have appreciated an extra hour's leave during the week and maybe up to 8hrs weekends as I often felt rushed. Most patients were friendly and supportive. Food choices were good but quality was hit and miss. Rooms were nice and spacious and I felt safe and as though my privacy was respected.

Especially to the nurse Soloman on level 2, you were such a a supportive, passionate, and insightful RN that really brought so much additional education and perspective for the student nurses that worked with you throughout placement. Thank you for your support and your dedication to mental health! 5 stars!

I've been waiting since the beginning of July to find out whether I've been accepted onto the waitlist to be assessed for ADHD, and after four follow ups, I still can't get a straight answer. Patients deserve better treatment than this.

I have had multiple admissions to the Victoria Clinic over the course of 2023 and have been consistently impressed by the outstanding quality of care provided to me throughout my stays. As someone who has worked in disability and mental health advocacy previously, I was terrified of being admitted as an inpatient initially, but the truly caring and kind nature of all staff I interacted with during my stays quickly reassured me. Support staff across reception, the kitchen and cleaning were very competent and incredibly nice. Allied health staff ran informative and engaging group programs. Nursing staff were lovely, caring, and really went above and beyond to provide appropriate support and get to know me as a person during my stays. Doctors exhibited a high level of knowledge, professionalism and commitment to person-centred care. Would be very happy to be admitted again if it were necessary in future.

Unsafe.

After a brief stay in the inpatient program. I was left to discharge from the Victoria Clinic.
This facility is unsafe for anyone who has suicidal ideations or is at risk of suicide.

The staff are overworked and will try a use delaying tactic as and cohesion in order to get you to submit to there unreasonable requests.

They can not or will not produce a code of conduct that the staff are expected to abide by, when asked.

You must participate in 2 groups a day but the staff will not tell you this or allow you to participate in the groups that you may want unless they think they can get something from you.

The HOTO between staff is appalling and resulted in me being offer another patients medication as I was on no medication this dangerous situation was avoided by me.

The staff insist on leaving the rooms unlocked at night despite being directly told not to because they “don’t want to disturb you when you sleep as the doors ar very loud”. This is against Helthscopes own policy’s about patient safety.

You are not allowed to have cables longer than 30cm add belts because they pose a ligature risk but you can have clothing, shoe laces and linen (provided by the Victoria clinic) all of which can be used as a ligature.

The treatment and delaying tactics used by the staff did lead to a rapid and serious decline in my mental health.

When I left I was asked to sign a document that said they I acknowledge that I was at increased risk of suicide. When I added that staying at the Victoria Clinic has placed me at increased risk of suicide and got the staff to sign they became very uneasy about what was happening.

On discharging from the Victoria CLininc I was contacted by one of the managers who was trying to ascertain my intent about raising a com[plaint. The Victoria clinic did not contact my next of kin for 1 hour after I left in a very distressed state of mind and was at increased risk of self harm due to the care provided at the Victoria Clinic.

I would not recommend this clinic in any way to treat any person at all and if this is an example of how health scope manages health care it is unacceptable.

When I tried to raise this issue with Healthscops head office I was ignored and transferred to a dead voice mail box as of today I have not had a response from health scopes head office this has been 2 months.

I cannot thank the staff at The Victoria Clinic enough for the care and support shown to me during my three week stay. I was very anxious coming to the clinic the first morning, however from the moment I arrived, Anastasia on reception was so kind and helpful it put me at ease . (All the reception and admin/intake staff were wonderful throughout my stay). Thank you to the cleaning staff who cleaned my room every morning with a smile. Thank you to the kitchen staff who provided beautiful meals and such a variety of food. Thank you to the clinicians who ran all the group sessions which were so helpful and informative. Thank you to all the wonderful Nurses and students who worked so hard on their shifts and always found time to chat and check on me. To my Psychiatrist, Dr Fitzpatrick, you are incredible, professional and kind and I was so lucky to have you to speak to every day and get my medications titrated correctly. To everyone at The Victoria Clinic, thank you. I now have the tools to manage my Mental Health better and for the first time in a long time I am looking forward to the future.

I have been here for around 2 months, and the Vic Clinic has genuinely helped me so so much. The nurses are so caring and wonderful, and they will be there to listen to you or even just sit with you if you need company or are feeling overwhelmed. The psychologists that run the groups are incredibly knowledgeable. The only criticism, which is hardly one, is that we need bigger rooms for them because they fill, showing how important and significant they are! There is also an art room for therapy... I never knew I could do Art, but the help of three different Art therapists helped me discover a new love for doing something, and I'm beyond appreciative of that.

Plus, on top of that, there is a gym run by a lovely person who can individually design a workout that meets your needs/desires.

As for my psychiatrist.. the dedication she places into her patients is incredible and admirable and has changed my life.

Overall, a huge thank you to the Vic Clinic.
