I received excellent care at Currumbin Clinic and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The nurses, allied health professionals, admin staff and doctors were all very professional and helpful. The food was also very nice and nutritious with a good variety at every meal. The environmental staff were so friendly and nothing was ever too much to ask for. I feel I received the care I needed to get back to my life. Thankyou

I spent nearly 5 weeks at Currrumbin Clinic. Dr Lisa Shelley (General Physician and Addiction expert) literally saved my life and I could not recommend her high enough. I would give her 100 stars if I could. My psychiatrists, Dr Batten and Dr McDonald were amazing also.

The Clinic itself is a slightly different matter. It is tired to the point of being run down. Ceilings leak in the rain; there is mould in the therapy rooms (with a heavy stench in the DBT room) and some bathrooms; plumbing issues in the patient tea rooms; rusted, small fridges for patient use; no teaspoons to make tea or coffee; chipped paint or holes in the wall in patients rooms; old beds with thinning uncomfortable mattresses; therapy rooms not able to cater for the number of patients forcing some to sit on the floor; insufficient washing machines and dryers for 100 patients - just to name a few.

The food really depended on which chef was on however my biggest issue was that I had to eat in my room (due to a rare medical condition) and on countless occasions I was delivered food that was on my "cannot eat list" rather than what the dietician had directly instructed the kitchen. Speaking up about this did not rectify the issue and seemed to make matters worse. As per the photo, I wrote on the menu that I needed fish as per the dieticians instructions where as I got chicken, cucumber, raw onion, lettuce etc which were all on my "unable to eat list".

Lastly, most of the nurses were great.....some even fantastic however some could become very curt to the point of rude over things I had no way of knowing. I don't blame them though as the staffing basically is 8 patients to 1 nurse each shift so they are seriously busy. I would like them to be more clear or signs up about the times during which you can get your medications however ie: strict handover and medication count times as these seem to change dramatically. I do want the nursing staff to know that I appreciate that they were trying their best.

This place really saved me. The staff are fantastic, really caring and hardworking. You get immediate access to a psychiatrist and appointments almost every day. The food is good and plentiful. It’s pretty boring but that allows your nervous system to settle. Being so close to the beach is also a plus, and you can go out and walk, sit on the sand or watch the whales each day (once cleared).
On the downside, the facilities are pretty rundown and definitely need an upgrade. I found most patients just go to their rooms when not in group therapy or eating meals so it can feel very isolating at first. Once I got to make some friends and had people to hang out with it got easier. Overall, I am incredibly grateful for my stay and definitely felt safe and relaxed while it was there. The expert medical advice I got to manage my situation was invaluable.
Top tip - bring your own pillow and doona from home. It will hugely increase the comfort of your stay. Earplugs are also useful.

Since the change in leadership at Currumbin Clinic, we've noticed a remarkable difference in the participants who have attended. They are coming out feeling stronger and more confident in their ability to keep their lives on track. The positive shift in their mental health and resilience is truly impressive, and we couldn't be more pleased with the care and support they’ve received. It's clear the clinic is making a significant impact in empowering individuals to maintain their well-being long-term.

I had a 3 week stay for help and treatment for my PTSD and subsequent substance abuse and I could not praise this place more highly.

The majority and I mean the majority of the staff were happy, friendly, caring and professional.

I found my psychiatrist to be understanding, extreamly professional, reassuring, accommodating and most importantly he listened to what I was trying to say and somehow he was able to understood what I was saying and then he worked WITH me. I saw him almost every day bar weekends.

Despite other review, I found the rooms and facilities to be more than adequate. Yes, it's a older buildin, but it's clean, well maintained and safe. The fact that once you get leave and that the beach is 5 minutes awa and is a great tool and motivator.

I found something I'd happily eat every meal, it was always fresh and there was always a few options. It's no fine dining but I never went hungry.

At times yeah I absolutely wanted to leave but I stayed because I when I got real about it with myself, I realised that if I LET them help, It might be the place to get the help that I needed. Helping people with mental health issues and dependancys is always going to be difficult and raw, I arrived broken, scared, lost and I'd all but given up on being me and happy again, I'm not saying I'm leaving fixed, with a whistle on my lips as I skip out the door far from it. But my meds are stabilised, I’ve learnt some new tools and method in the group sessions and most importanly I feel I’ve finally got my head above the water now and can take a breath, I'm feeling confident and absolutely amazed that the first time in 8mths I think there might be a way and a solution so I don't have to pain and suffer anyway.

The only reason I've written this overshare of a short story is because I looked at the numerous reviews and after seeing them I very very nearly didn't go but I needed help and I couldn't be happier that didn't let others bad experience steer me away and I'm proud of myself for not using others experience as an excuse not to go.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Dr Batten, nurses Chloe and Edwin and also the Renata the axillary staff member, the help and compassion you all gave and showed at one point or another me will stay with me for the rest of my days (I hope the higher ups and the power that be realise just how good and passionate you are about your jobs and what a asset you are) 🤙

Admissions and assessment coordinator Jamin provided exceptional support and guidance, from my first inquiry for my son through to admission and discharge.
All the nursing staff and especially Dr Jamal were professional, kind, caring people who provided the utmost care and respect, I would highly recommend Currumbin Clinic.

A stay in 2008 was fantastic. A brief stay in October ended in near disaster.
At first I was impressed, the upgrades were really nice, the staff seemed genuine and caring. Pretty soon I realised it was actually worse than previous stay. Groups ran so poorly, no control, no leadership from staff running education groups, many patients complaining and nothing done. Inconsistent application of rules. Patients smoking weed just outside the boundary. Patients smoking just outside doors despite no smoking signs, patients taking food to rooms and leaving dirty plates in common areas. Less than 2 weeks there and I was taken off ADHD medication with no taper off, just full dose to nothing. A day later my diazepam was cut by 2/3 and a day later removed completely. I had barely detoxed from the drugs I had been taking. I had what can only be described as a psychotic episode, given zero help, my partner was left to call an ambulance. I have not been told why I wasn’t allowed back, I haven’t had any discharge report despite requesting from the 2 treating Dr’s I was seeing. PATHETIC money grabbing service. DO NOT RECOMMEND
