Amazing experience at Maitland hospital this week, my partner needed urgent care on his arm and they went above and beyond. Especially a registered nurse named Lynda in the day procedure ward. I cannot express how amazing she is. More hospitals need people like her. Our first time here( hopefully our last ) but if I could recommend one. It's this one!.

Of course the process seems slow however at the end of the day all the staff were very caring and professional. I received blood tests, chest X-ray and ECG all bulk billed. I feel sorry for the staff with the pressure they are under. The hardest part of the day was sitting in a room full of whinging old people that could have just gone to a GP and not wasted emergency staff time.

I was at Maitland Hospital on Monday with my 5 month old. Now I understand that the hospital and other hospitals are quite understaffed which I completely understand. My daughter and I sat in the waiting room for 6 hours before being taken into a room. As we waited in the room, unfortunately the doctors did nothing of any tests besides a swab test. They asked the history of what was happening but did nothing else.
I am high my disappointment in this as she had high temps for 2 days. It wasn’t until 3 days later when I saw a gp that we got results as to which I could have gotten at the hospital had they taken the variety of tests that they can offer.

if i could leave 0 stars, i would.

just called them (4:40PM) to ask for an update on my mother who was in recovery after undergoing ovarian surgery - the lady I spoke to on the phone was completely apathetic and devoid of emotion, and wasted no time hanging up on me. for someone whose mother may have cancer, you would expect to receive more care and kindness from a nurse or any staff member in general.

simply asking for a general idea of how long it may take to receive any sort of update and was met with a very rude and snappy response.

after being abruptly hung up on, i called back and spoke with Virginia - not sure if this is the same woman who spoke with me the first time - to confirm the name as i found this extremely unacceptable. out of all places you should expect a hospital to have compassion and empathy.

i understand hospitals are busy places but this does not mean the level of care gets automatically brushed under the rug.

Very professional staff. My presentation was complicated and fell under possible serious trauma. After being treated well and with dignity and completing the much needed surgery required to put me back together I feel very fortunate and privileged. Special mentions must be made for all the nursing staff in ED and the very talented orthopaedic team who were very capably assisted by the anaesthetic team and the surgical staff.

Very disappointing when in need we’ll go to the mater, John Hunter or anywhere else instead, my partner came in with our 1 year old daughter to get a checkup as she fell out of bed (she had a cold at the time) after finally getting through my partner was questioned regarding child neglect so she left after being accused of such a thing to which we got a call later being told the police will be involved and when we come in a doctor will be seeing and assessing our daughter as soon as we get in there, we get there, sat in there for hours and hours it was very obvious we were being judged the whole time we were there, we were told it looks like our daughter has a viral infection which doesn’t require her to stay overnight, the doctor then comes back and says she has to stay overnight, she’ll be blood tested and an X-ray will be done to reassure us there are no unknown issues. The next morning my partner and our daughter were discharged with no X-ray and no blood test she was not monitored at all during the whole night, very shocked and disappointed with Maitland hospital and it’s staff definitely won’t be returning. Disgusting how we were treated

I have heard this hospital is rated really bad but having experienced that this week with my daughter going in with a broken leg, I totally agree. Emergency is a complete joke. Allow you to sit for 6hrs after X-ray show 2 fractures with no pain relief . Staff are useless and could not care less how much pain you are in.
Took 2 days to finally have the leg operated on with minimal pain relief all that time.
After all the incompetence and surgery finally done they tell you in the morning you can be discharged . 9pm is when you are finally discharged.
Get your act together Maitland Hospital , we all deserve so much better than this .
Avoid if you can .
